Yesterday, at @eui-eu.bsky.social I presented new work in progress of Marta Jaroszewicz and myself within our project at @cmr-warsaw.bsky.social. We attempt to deepen our previous research on emergency governance using the knowledge on how mobility and migration were governed during past emergencies

Our GAPs Return Migration report elucidates how stigma caused by seeing a return as a failure & expecting that returnees has to support all family members impacts returns. Also, some migrants left Poland due to fear of compatriots who can take side of their persecutors in their countries of origin.

In @tokfm.bsky.social, I commented on the new developments in the EU return system. Harmonisation is a good idea but I am sceptical about return hubs. Better to strenghten reintegration measures. Check out our research on reintegration in Geoegia: www.returnmigration.eu/wp-series/ex...

After @badaczkinagranicy.bsky.social 3rd International Seminar we see that militarisation of border regimes became routinised and application of border violence is normalised. Regardless of place, time, and ruling parties, the EU borders remain more and more a negation of what the Union stands for.

At Reinventing Refuge: Protection of Refugees in Post-Communist Countries workshop in Warsaw, I broadened my PhD research by linking the security discourse of migratory NGOs with the legacy of women emancipation and struggle. Need to draw more on Feminist Security Studies for further research.

Together with Dovilė Jakniūnaitė, Marta Pachocka, and Ksenia Naranovich we explored how mobility-related emergencies were governed & routinised in Lithuania & Poland and how both countries were similar in this, despite the difference of their governments. Open access: bit.ly/3DPul0I

I'm happy that my paper got partly oudated. With Nasim Mondal we wrote how rarely the migrants on the PL-BY border can reach the public with their discourse: bit.ly/4ghBxRq. During a public hearing, first time two people shared their pushback testimonies face to face with the government officials.

To budujące usłyszeć przedwczoraj tyle merytorycznych głosów nt. polityki migrac. oraz osobistych świadectw. Chyba pierwszy raz rządzący na żywo wysłuchali osoby, które przeszły granicę białoruską. Trudno wybrać 1 wypowiedź do zacytowania. Dziękuję organizatorom. Oby głosy nie poszły na marne.
