Received the 2025 Dr. William Montague Cobb Award from the NAACP. I represent my family, Zimbabwe, and St. Louis with pride. This is a recognition of a life’s work grounded in health equity, justice, and a vision for Black liberation through public health.

Grateful to the St. Louis County NAACP for the Excellence in Healthcare Award. Health is a human right. But tornado recovery delays, federal cuts, and underfunded health departments remind us how far we have to go. I build systems that serve us with dignity, and I won’t stop.

So surprised and honored to be recognized by the county NAACP! 🎉Especially with this group of visionaries

In St Louis we built real public health programs rooted in justice and community. Now federal cuts are dismantling that work. I co-authored this piece with Dr Kathleen Page to say clearly that we see what is happening and we are not staying silent.

1/2) Today is the last day of National Public Health Week and it’s been beautiful to celebrate these incredible humans all week! All the success you’ve seen come out of this department is all them. We’ve almost doubled in size in under four years, but one thing has stayed the same: we are family.
