My playing cannot be too bad if that's what Pixel thinks when I'm practicing. 😅

With that, I've just uninstalled Duolingo. The balance between learning and being held hostage by gamification goals no longer checks out.

En route for grading. 4997 words, 32 pages, and almost 16 hours of interviews with winemakers, sommeliers, shop owners, and journalists over the past few months. It's been spinning my wheels for a while over the past few months, but it was really satisfying to pull this off. Now let's wait and see.

Chuffed to be awarded the Peter Hampson Memorial prize for the D1 (Wine Production) @wsetglobal.bsky.social Diploma module performance in EMEA: a bursary to study a wine producing region. Good kick of motivation before upcoming D3 exams! 😀

OSes not informing about the estimated time to install updates before user agrees to start is such a huge UX fail. 30 minutes and counting, and I'm stuck with work to do. Should've known better not to start...

I've eaten many great steaks in my life, but boy, Fiorentina is really something else. Wow. Went down really well with a bottle of Villa Rosa Ribaldoni Chianti Classico 2020.

Yours is hands down better than what Gemini did. T-shirt material indeed!

A 100% Syrah from AOP Côtes du Roussillon, how come? It's supposed to be a blend, isn't it? A superb wine, though. Their varietal Carignan is bottled as IGP Cotes Catalanes. What am I missing?

So not only is Google shoving Gemini up my butt, it also wants me to actually pay for it with no opt-out? Oh come on...

I noticed only after a while that the good 'ol Chardoc is now a Chardog! Still a superb wine, makes you crave for more. And, for us, worked well today for Valentine's with Tawny who had a scary (for him) vet appointment today. Family wine 😉

Always funny.

In 2023, six Polish wineries - a record number here - made ice wines. Most are, unsurprisingly, from white varieties. But this little one from Winnica Jadwiga is made with Pinot Noir, harvested in -8*C in early December. 108g RS 14g TA. I haven't opened it yet, but I have a hunch I'm gonna love it.

It was a long wait since I've first heard @jamiegoode.bsky.social is doing that one, but apparently first episode is now online to watch. Hitting play in 3... 2... 1...

If you often iterate quickly, add something & run to see the updated results, using Cursor can be like Russian roulette. I wait for the day when I'll mindlessly Tab & then run something like this by accident.

For anyone with even a faint interest in the wines of South America, or wishing to get to know them, This. Is. A. Must. Read. Period. What Amanda Barnes did here is nothing short of extraordinary. The images painted are so vivid I'd love to jump on a plane right here, right now. Great book.

Can't get enough of Burgenland. This wine is special to us — a private collection birthday cuvée for Feiler-Artinger Kurt's birthday we received as a gift. Brings back many very fond memories. And a fabulous wine while at it. Great start to the New Year's Eve celebrations! 🎉

That went better than I expected.

You may know me as a Madeira aficionado, but among my beloved wine regions Jerez holds a very special place too. Thanks to Lustau, Wine Scholar Guild and Consejo Regulador I now proudly call myself a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist. Good news right before Christmas, yay!🎄

The Solera Familiar range by Lustau is stellar. Distinctive, well made, clearly showing off different styles without going peculiar anywhere. Having Fino Jarana & Manzanilla Papirusa from the same base wine side by side is a good exercise!

No. Surprise. Whatsoever. Okay, one surprise... WHERE IS NAI REESA?!

Running a 2nd fastest 10k on last day of the training plan, in Valencia, on the eve of the Valencia Marathon that my wife runs tomorrow feels special. Beautiful city, and so much energy here today. It's truly a Ciudad del Running. This circuit was like a highway!

It's been a while since I had Testalonga. Now, again, the Baby Bandito tongue in cheek series serves as wife's marathon mantra before this weekend's Valencia — Chin Up, Stay Brave, Keep on Punching and Follow Your Dreams. These Craig's and Carla's Swartland beauties are a joy to drink. So honest!

I still can't really get over HDR mode on Instagram, it's now everywhere and makes my eyes want to freak out. Everything else gets immediately gray and washed out so that photos can pop. Killing in a dark room! I don't have an Apple device in my hand now, is it the same on iPhone?

I didn't put my hands on a Nouveau today, but hey — Le beaujolais nouveau est arrivé! So going back to a very fresh and a very fond memory of Domaine des Roches du Py Roche-Grès tasted at Warsaw Wine Experience this Monday. Very sappy, joyful and finely nuanced. We need more of this kind of stuff.
