Former HS Math teacher looking for my next role. I write about math, education, music, food, parenting, travel, tinkering... all with a side of snarkiness, sarcasm and self-deprecation.
I don't know who of you live in these areas... but east coast peeps- if you're looking to see some music...

Ryan Montbleau has been one of my favorite singer songwriters for the past 15+(?) years & Kellen is one of the singers of Fruition, the band who played our wedding 12 years ago. Check em out.

I reached out to a retreat center in Sept about hosting a large
(chosen) family reunion

Silence

They reached out in NOV "still considering us?"

"I think we're going to go a different route, this communication has been way too drawn out for me"

Guess who just reached out again??

I couldn't deal

The loooong game.

Here i was thinking they were just trying to line the pockets of the financial institutions, but yeah, doubles as generational debt.

Also- haven't seen this bluesky notice before....

I tried to do a 3x3 in generality but messed it up somewhere.

It's definitely the case with 2x2s...

For a minute I thought the Dems grew a spine.
I should have known better.

I mean, I get that the raiders are bad, but for having the best record in the NFL, the broncos are not good. They've put together what? 4 good quarters all season?
November 7, 2025 at 4:18 AM
I really want to support the Denver Broncos (my local team). The defense is elite but damn, the offense is really painful to watch.

Geo and Calc

There is obviously variability depending on the class and topic, but in general I found that each unit is ~3 weeks
November 1, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Yeah, usually they're year long classes, so they have the same teacher the whole year.
Sometimes if a students schedule changes they might switch teachers a semester or trimester, but hopefully the teachers are aligned so they didn't miss anything.

How does this happen? I swear they multiply when left unsupervised

And of course i (a lifetime ago) got the cheap Harbor Freight sets that don't actually have the size on them...

My local Whole Foods has a sign "St Louis ribs on sale" above a cooler with a bunch of ribs.
A few of them are St Louis style, most are Spare Ribs.
I ask the butcher for clarity
Dude insisted that St Louis and Spare ribs are the same.

(For the record, they're not. STL are trimmed Spare)

Trying to buy a shelving system but need to know the thickness of the horizontal beam, which isnt specified.
Chat support person tells me it's 4 or 5"
Online specs say shelf can be adjusted by 1 ½" increments.

I get CS is hard... but using bad AI to generate "answers" isn't the fix you think it is

Nice.

#4 reminds me of this problem (I used to like to give a quarter of a period)

This was a fun one too
