I learned the ladder method in middle school, but we always just used prime factors when pulling out what they had in common. So it made the ladders a little longer, lol.

What took me a long time to realize when I started teaching was that if a student was struggling with something in class, sending work home for them to continue to struggle (but possibly with no support) would probably not accomplish what I hoped it would.

I assigned the variables a, b, c, and d to the first row.
Which makes the second row (a + 4), (b + 4), etc.
The third row (a + 8)…
The last row (a + 12)…
No matter how you assign 1-4 to the variables, your total will always be
a + (b + 4) + (c + 8) + (d + 12) or
(a + b + c + d) + 24 = (10) + 24 =34

My favorite number is not perfect, but it would be if you add 1.
Or if you are talking about cubes, my favorite number is perfect then.
