I don’t do these regularly anymore… Or much at all.

The idea was to “rizz” ourselves up, once upon a time. I post mine, you post yours, we tell each other how pretty we are.

Then it all went to shit; who had time or energy for it when the world was ending?

A sly little smile on my bare face, & I'm peeping through big ole specs like I’m a-flirtin’ witchoo... but no. I’ve just coloured my hair & am feeling very self-satisfied, that’s all, got it that perfect ash blonde/silver I WANT it to be, to blend in with the silver/grey that’s growing in. But it NEVER STAYS. It just keeps fading back to gold. There’s a metaphor there, some fucking perfect song lyric, I’m sure, if you’re a lyricist. Or a poet. Unfortunately, I am neither. I’m just a frustrated asshole who’s tried EVERYTHING to get this goddamned hair to STAY the colour she dyes it… Everything, of course, but paying a professional to do it. The last time I did that was in the early NINETIES, & it took three visits & over nine hundred dollars. Granted, we were correcting a horrendous bleach job I’d been inflicting on my hair for over 5 years… And my hair was LONG - just below my nipples (back when they weren’t parallel with my belly button). The length was “corrected", too, to my horror. Fuckers. Nobody approved THAT. SHOULDER LENGTH? You monsters. Anyway. I have an audition Monday for the Kathy Bates role in the stage version of “Misery” & I really want it to be MUCH closer to GREY. I figured that would be more appropriate than gleaming, golden BLONDE. But ash is the best I can do, short of spraying some fake shit on it. If I get the part I guess they can worry about it. Maybe a wig; but that might come off in the climactic (& might I add, incredibly violent & gory) fight scene. As for said audition: Not as excited about it now as I was a while ago. Read the script: she’s onstage pretty much the whole time & has about 75% of the lines. And it's not a LOWKEY role. I’m exhausted just THINKING about it. (Unlike “No Exit,” it’s not a limited run. It's 5 shows a week for 4 weeks - or 3, I can’t remember, but with my luck it’s 4. TWO on Sunday, if I’m not mistaken. Which is just madness. The fight scene alone would kill me ONCE a day…) I may not audition. We’ll see. Ugh.

Trump was filming yet another fucked up “press conference” in the Oval Office (something about making weight loss drugs more affordable - which is a fucking joke considering the giant leap millions of Americans’ health insurance premiums are about to make)…You’d have to ask someone who was watching. I make a point of NEVER watching or listening to that sack of rancid pus. It’s for my health. Even still photos of him raise my blood pressure; reading about the grotesque destruction he’s wreaking upon this country may yet give me a heart attack or a stroke. I am that overwhelmed with rage & despair in equal measure. I try to be fatalistic about it, to accept that, in actual fact, there is NOTHING I can do to change this situation. Watching videos of these ICE raids & kidnappings is doing nothing but making me sick. I go to the protests. If I had money, I’d give it. I am not so naive as to think that fucking around on social media is any sort of activism. It’s just cathartic - until it becomes the problem. Sometimes (often), it does. And when it does, I need to recognise that and TAKE A FUCKING BREAK. Getting better at that; I take little ones, go away for a few days at a time, sometimes even longer. But I also have to learn to NOT ENGAGE. There are few things more futile than ARGUING ON THE INTERNET. It is logorrheic masturbation, and I have had ENOUGH of that for a lifetime. So, anyway, yeah - another day, another “Hey, look what Trump did.” Sigh,

Well - except for the fact that he cited fictional pollsters, he’s actually right about the shutdown, to a degree. As for him not being on the ballot - this delusional bag of seeping pus lives in a delusion enabled and supported by his sycophantic dick suckers. His poll numbers are not the WORST they’ve ever been, at 39% approval… The worst was Truman at 22% followed by Nixon at 24%, and GWB at 25%. But Trump has HIS low poll numbers absent war & absent a Congress with teeth or a Fourth Estate doing anything remotely resembling its job. It’s fairly remarkable. IMAGINE what the people of the United States would think of this man if all of them ACTUALLY KNEW what was going on.

Estimates range from 3,000 to 8,000. So it was probably around 5,000. The median age seemed to be 67. A LOT of fucking old people, thankyouverymuch. Belgium turns old wind turbine blades into park benches & playground equipment. These massive fiberglass structures were headed to landfills but now they have a second life as stylish public furniture. The photo depicts a vibrant expanse of green park grass and people sitting on wind turbine blades converted to sleek, curvy benches. It really does look space-agey and sophisticated as all get-out. And what a COOL way ti repurpose something so massive, that would otherwise just sit in a landfill. I am so impressed. It reminds me of that country that was making asphalt out of chopped up old tires and other plastics too difficult to recycle. Whatever happened with that? I thought for sure that would catch on. It was brilliant. I always assumed it turned out to be prohibitively expensive (gods forbid we pay extra money to save the fucking planet) or even worse for the environment, somehow... I'm going to look that up. Every time I think about it it bothers me I don't know what happened with that. Anyway - these turbine blades look super cool. I bet one day the US will have innovation again. If we don't kills ourselves off, or cut ourselves off from the rest of the world, Gilead-style. FUCK. I am so depressed.

If you're a Michigander and you go to the University of Michigan, there is a visceral sense of RELIEF in being able to be a part of a WINNING football tradition. (I imagine the same is true of going to MSU - or so my Spartan football player of a son would have us believe...) But NOW - holy smokes, the LIONS DON'T SUCK. And they haven't sucked for a few YEARS. Regarding Trump's baffling honour of a SECOND state visit - something offered to VERY few other heads of state, which is why it was so fucking baffling. WHY TRUMP, of all people? Some have opined that King Charles intended to try to talk Trump into renewing his alliance with Ukraine. If that was the case, it appears he may have been successful. And if it WAS, indeed, what happened... Well. We don't know what happens behind those closed doors, do we? If it did happen that way, kudos, Chuckles. Well done. As for what ELSE happened - here's a report from the UK Telegraph: "The (UK) Telegraph on Trump's visit: "There were the marching bands with their flawless precision and the procession of ceremonial carriages whose windows are designed to allow a view of their esteemed occupants waving to jubilant crowds. But there was no waving because there were no crowds. Haven't taken any new pics of my felines in a while.

But this is a classic, & I'm missing Lulu.

She isn't gone - she just wanders.

She hates the other two (ESPECIALLY Ziggy), so she punishes me for it by spending a LOT of time with a family down the street.

Asshole.
Lulu the Cat (part Maine Coon, in case it isn't obvious) did not POSE next to my print of Las Meninas, by Velázquez. She just happened to be sitting there and I just HAPPENED, fortuitously, to CATCH her in the act of sitting there. And that look on her face, my GOD, the look. It's not unusual - in fact, it's oretty much her default look. Cats INVENTED Resting Bitch Face. Mind you, the SECOND after I snapped the pic, she turned to me as if to say, "Do you MIND?" She has NO patience for being photographed, as evinced by her utter unwillingness to stay still for a MOMENT the other morning when she met me on my walk. (Yes, Lulu used to accompany me on my morning walks quite often. I'd never have believed it until it began happening last year; I have a CAT who goes on WALKS with me. No leash. Just trots along placidly next to me. Sometimes falls behind, stopping to smell something interesting on someone's lawn... sometimes she lopes ahead, and then stops right in front of me on the pavement and LIES DOWN, as if to say, "STOP AND PET ME NOW." GOD, she's such an asshole of a cat. Yes, of COURSE I stop and pet her. I'm not an IDIOT. The walks don't happen as frequently lately as they used to; Lulu has lost a step or two. She's lost weight, lost fur. There's nothing wrong with her, that the vet can discern. She's just aging more rapidly than she ought to, for some reason. I wish she would just stay put, but she LOATHES Ziggy, and simply will not tolerate him. She'd rather sleep outdoors as long as the weather isn't freezing than be in the same house as him. It's a pity, as Ziggy is a lovable soul. But there you have it. My next batch of cats - if i live long enough to have other cats - will be strictly indoor cats. These cats came to me as outdoor cats; I refuse to torment cats that have known freedom. (No, please don't debate me on this point. I won't get into it.) But if I get new ones - INDOORS. Period. I'm tired of the dirt, for one thing... Okay, that's enough rambling.

Self-explanatory, but if this is in a time capsule & needs context: Donald Trump & his concubine (sorry, Melania Trump) rode the escalator at the UN where he would give a speech that would humiliate us all, insult every nation in the world, confirm what everyone already knew - that he's a fucking boorish moron - & generally make a goddamned clown of himself & everyone associated with him (including his hapless stooge of a Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, possibly the most pathetic groveller of his cabinet, whom Trump grossly insulted for years before offering him what has heretofore been the most powerful Cabinet post, but which, of course, under Trump, is merely Most Pitiful Yes Man). ANYWAY, on said escalator, about 1/4 of the way up, Trump & his Only Fans Escort of a wife jolted as they suddenly... STOPPED. GASP! SABOTAGE! Trump looked back, around, as if to ask, "Well? IS somebody going to fix this?" Melania just started walking up what was now a plain staircase. SCANDALOUS. Trump later demanded a full-scale FEDERAL INVESTIGATION into WHO DID IT, who sabotaged the escalator (AND his teleprompter, which ALSO blinked out during his appalling speech)... only to be humiliated yet again when UN officials revealed that it was TRUMP'S OWN TEAM responsible for both fuck-ups. Of COURSE it was. Douchebag. Now, as for the "AFTER A WHILE, PEDOPHILE" - surely THIS needs no explanation for THIS timeline. But for time capsule readers: TRUMP RAPED LITTLE GIRLS. LOTS OF THEM. He did it everywhere; frequently on his friend Jeffrey Epstein's PRIVATE ISLAND. Now he's doing everything he can to DISTRACT & DEFLECT from the EPSTEIN FILES, including forcing his stooge, Speaker Mike Johnson, refuse to OPEN those files despite public demand for it. But SO many Republicans are adamantly against it that one can't help suspecting a LOT of those scumbags are ALSO in those files. Which tracks. Gross, dude. GROSS.

When I say he loved it... I mean he LOVED it. Loved watching it, loved talking about it, loved PLAYING it.

This is a picture of him & his father after his FIRST game.

He looks like he just tried CRACK for the first time.
Terry O'Connor & his father, after his first football game in 2006. His eyes are popping out of his giant head. He's holding the football in one hand & his huge helmet in the other. Adam on one knee, straw hat, grinning like a mad fool... Terry started on the line, naturally; he was the biggest kid in his age group for YEARS. Off the charts or in the 99th percentile till past high school. (He's 6'3" & DOWN to 215 since leaving college & losing the 30 lbs they made him gain to fit the linebacker position on the Spartans team, though he never actually PLAYED that position, sticking to special teams till he left in 2021. (He left with a year of eligibility, not counting the Covid year, because he loathed the new coach - with good reason, as it turns out. Terry has pretty good instincts about people.) Anyway - that first game... I was on the other sideline, keeping track of their players. It was hard; I just wanted to watch Terry. I saw him continually ploughing over the kid who was lined up against him, & then APOLOGISING as he tried to help the kid up. Halfway through the second quarter, that kid came running over to the sideline; he was sobbing to his coach: "I...I... I don't... I don't wanna play number 55 anymore!" It was so cute & sad, I ALMOST didn't feel proud. Poor kid never stood a chance. Nobody did. (I know - if you DON'T like football, if you think it's BARBARIC, you're probably horrified. Sorry, Not sorry. Yes, I REALISE this contradicts my "ethical dilemma" stuff. But there it is. It IS a dilemma. I'm scared. But mostly for the kids who PLAYED AGAINST HIM. Because after a season or two, it was clear Terry wasn't in danger in Pee-Wee league. Pop Warner: Worried again... Nope. Nobody touched him. And he was CARRYING THE BALL. Sure, they tackled him. But they were the ones who came up lame, if anyone did. High school - Same. College, surely? Nope. He broke a pinky falling wrong. That was his sole football injury. ACL surgery? VOLLEYBALL. SO. There it is.😜

Initially this started with a minor (but manageable) staff shortage, but things quickly spiralled out of control when the remaining member of staff brought up the age-old debate about whether cereal is considered a soup. After three hours of heated argument, no consensus, and our only other member of staff storming out yelling "Gazpacho doesn't count!", we determined that continuing operations under such philosophical chaos was both unwise and impractical given that it's hard to operate with only one member of staff. For safety reasons - emotional and otherwise - we are shutting the doors early to mitigate the trauma this disagreement brought to the surface given the great "Pineapple on Pizza" battle of 2020. Please return tomorrow, ideally with a coherent stance on cereal! AND THIS IS IN TINY TINY PRINT AT THE VERY BOTTOM, ONLY LEGIBLE IF YOU EMBIGGEN THE PICTURE: We are actually hiring - please research soup philosophy in advance of applying.” AND... I don’t know if this adds to your enjoyment of this, but it’s a rocks/minerals/gems/geodes store. Thus, a thorough knowledge of soups is obviously essential. DUH.
