Anti-ICE activist in NJ. Diehard sewist.
No idea why I got this catalog but I love it. Its entire vibe is clothing for the blandest person you know to be able to go to church and have an equally bland person say, "you're so bad!"

Public artistic resistance to federal immersion policy by LA museums. The project, We Belong Here, projects 30 large scale images created by 9 local artists on the buildings' exteriors to explore the realities faced by immigrants and themes of resilience and community resistance.

Last minute costumes for a historical cemetery tour and party. Partner is Leo in One Battle After Another and I just escaped France after a visit to the Louvre. I assume this is what all French people look like? (Also how don't I own a beret?)

New Jersey, if you see ICE these are the numbers to call so that community members can come out in support. There have been a lot of raids and sightings in NJ bc we're under attack for being a diverse state run by Democrats. Make sure there are eyes on ICE wherever they go. Save this on your phone!

When another student in the Spanish class I took this summer learned that I sew, he gave me 2 random fabrics he didn't need. Here's the T-shirt that I made from the grey and black striped knit. Pattern is free from Closet Core. I've made it twice and highly recommend it. share.google/oHVG6ndczk4R...

Damn, Duolingo sounding like Stephen Miller.

I'm really pleased with this jacket I made! Pattern is Annie, free at Mood. Fabric is a brushed cotton twill from Mood with contrast thanks to some old jeans. Instructions assume a good deal of sewing knowledge so make a muslin. www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-ann...

I'm literally a scholar who has written about John Waters, but just learned that Edith Massey is on the cover of a John Cougar (not Mellencamp yet) album from 1980.

How can AI get the name of one of the two main characters in a TV show wrong?

Living in an immigrant neighborhood creates wonderful little surprises, like finding out that this is what pignoli nuts look like with their shells!

Educators from Newark public schools and Rutgers Newark AAUP-AFT union out to protest the new immigration detention center in Newark, Delaney Hall. It was freezing cold and rainy but we came out in support of our immigrant and undocumented community.

Sending in the final manuscript for our collaborative book about the Chicory Revitalization Project, Poetic Echoes, Living Futures to U Iowa Press! Will be in the series, Humanities and Public Life, edited by the brilliant Anne Valk and Teresa Mangum. B
Out next year!

I've been knocking down troll Reddit comments that are trying to undermine our activism against ICE detention in NJ by saying, "where were you when Obama was president? Why didn't you protest then?" with some basic newspaper research. Don't play this game with a historian!

Faith leaders have been blocking the entrance to immigration detention center, Delaney Hall in Newark since 1pm. They're showing what democracy looks like.
May 12, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Come out to Delaney Hall to raise your voice in support of our immigrant community members and against the fascists running ICE and DHS.
May 12, 2025 at 12:42 PM
Today! Protest the fascist use of ICE to jail our community members by coming out to Delaney hall. Bring Mom! No better way to celebrate #mothersday than standing up for human rights.

I did not have Pamela Anderson being a feminist icon on my bingo card, but here we are. I love that people can't deal with her cutting her hair, not wearing tons of makeup and being visibly happy without their approval. Icon.

This Reddit post heading - Do you find penises aesthetic or attractive - is the ultimate bizarro use of the word aesthetic. When did it become synonymous with visually pleasing rather than, you know, its actual definition of following a set of artistic principles?

Also, the answer is no.
