Most honest description of Trump's mind I've seen
Trump’s brain was soup even when it was healthy. Now it’s like someone reduced a stock pot of Gowanus Canal water until it turned into disease gravy. Even if he weren’t regularly confused and enfeebled, he started out powered by a world historic ignorance. It has been clear for years now that Trump does not understand the concept of political asylum and thinks asylum seekers are people fleeing to the United States because the mental institutions back home closed. He doesn’t have the first understanding of how tariffs — his signature issue — function in any way, except as a corrupt extortion tool. He does not understand any aspect of the health care system and thinks devolving health care funding to individuals would save them money — a mortally comic example of misunderstanding economies of scale that anyone with a Costco card could explain to someone as thick as Michael Barbaro. Today’s $100 health care bill will be minus-$1,400 tomorrow. The body has a finite lifetime supply of energy. You need a photo ID to buy groceries. Only raking prevents forest fires. Windmills cause cancer. You erase a computer by pouring bleach on it. You cure infections by taking the UV light from your air conditioning duct and jamming it inside you and turning it on. The president also appears to think stealth aircraft are literally invisible.

ICE activity has been spotted near Broadway/Winnemac, Thome/Glenwood, Rosehill/Ashland, and Lincoln/Berteu. Agents have been spotted driving a black Kia, IL plates, a black Wagoneer, IL plates, a black GMV Yukon Denali, MN plates, and a white GMC Yukon Denali, FL plates. At least 4 people were detained. Bi also reported Smith to a federal agency, claiming that Smith was committing fraud. The stress on Smith was already high: Her supervisor at work had found her crying on and off for a day. Smith hadn’t heard from Bi since her terse reply to the condolence email. Then, Bi texted her a screenshot of a Facebook post about another GC who’d had an abruption at almost 32 weeks—but that GC had called 911 and the baby had lived. Next, Bi iMessaged a photo of Leon’s corpse to Smith’s 7-year-old son’s iPad.

Britany Affolter-Caine, the executive director of Michigan's University Research Corridor — an alliance that promotes research, innovation and discovery among WSU, MSU and U-M — said the schools have a proud history of leading life-saving medical research funded by the NIH. Among the best-known: Wayne State University and Detroit Medical Center researchers worked together on studies that showed women who have shorter than average cervixes were more likely to go into preterm labor and deliver premature babies. That led to an aggressive screening program to identify women at risk and treat them, improving infant mortality rates. Cancer researchers at MSU discovered a chemotherapy drug called cisplatin, which is used to treat sarcomas, small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, lymphomas and other types of cancer. U-M researchers developed a life-saving heart-lung bypass machine called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, that can pump blood and breathe for people whose own hearts and lungs are too weak to do it on their own.

In an internal video viewed by WIRED, Ehikian reiterated that GSA employees had the “opportunity to participate in a deferred resignation program,” per the email sent by OPM on January 28. Pressing his hands into the namaste gesture, Ehikian added, “If you choose to participate, I offer you my heartfelt gratitude for your service to this nation. If you choose to stay at the GSA, we’ll work together to implement the four pillars from the OPM memo.” He ended the video by saying thank you and pressing his hands into namaste again.

But after three or four questions, things went off the rails. Two attendees dropped from the heat. No one seemed to know what to do. And suddenly Trump announced that the rest of the event would be devoted to enjoying his campaign’s playlist. He stood onstage swaying and smirking, occasionally moving his arms, for just shy of 40 minutes. It was, gently put, troubling — an extended senior moment from a man who would be, if elected, America’s oldest president. Even Kristie Noem looked unsettled, and she killed her puppy when it acted up. Voters deserve to know if Trump is slipping cognitively. In addition to backing out of appearances and running a lower-energy campaign than in previous cycles, Trump’s stream-of-consciousness weave is fast degenerating into something at times incomprehensible. (Except for the racist bits. Those still come across.)
