It’s been a privilege to work on such important areas during 2024, and I can’t wait for what’s to come in 2025!

So I’ll finish by wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2025!

We’ve also had a range of publications, including estimates of the very old (www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...) and an explainer “How is the fertility rate changing?” - well worth a read! 👇

Autumn also saw my cohort of the GSS Fast Stream move from their first postings. It’s been brilliant to get a small insight into the experiences and enthusiasm of these individuals. I also shared this blog, inspired by questions from this cohort. 👇

September was a busy month for conferences! With the @royalstatsoc.bsky.social and @bspsuk.bsky.social conferences and the International Census Forum. It was great to share what we are doing and hear more from others across the UK and beyond!

In August the @royalstatsoc.bsky.social shared the William Guy Lecture videos. rss.org.uk/policy-campa.... This is a fantastic way to share statistics in the real world with school age children. I’m really looking forward to visiting primary schools in 2025 to do my talk in person! 9/14

In July, we published 2023 mid-year population estimates. Alongside these we published more information on our admin-based population estimates (ABPEs), this represents a huge step forward in our plans to make greater use of administrative data.
