Thank you ‪@msignorile.bsky.social‬ for having me on to talk about “Uneasy Silence,” and how we’ve watched — from the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to now — how politics can determine who receives care, and who is left behind.

We must continue speaking truth and standing together.

Thank you so much KGAY 106.5 & 92.1 for having me on to share a piece of my history, and history shared by everyone who has lived with HIV/AIDS.

My hope has always been for no one to carry the weight of stigma, and that everyone knows there is community, family, and love waiting to hold them.

August 19 was the anniversary of my speech, “A Whisper of AIDS,” and #WorldHumanitarianDay. Both call on us to speak against injustice, act where you can, and serve others — even when the obstacles feel insurmountable.

Thank you Spectrum SoCal for helping me share this message. #ActForHumanity

33 years ago today I spoke at the RNC, urging the nation to confront prejudice, break the silence on HIV/AIDS, and save lives.

I'm grateful to all who’ve joined me in the journey since and raised their voices for justice & dignity — reminding me that change is possible, and we are not alone.

In 1995, I was to exhibit my art in the Senate Rotunda. It told stories of activism, AIDS, and life and death. The Senate banned it at the last minute. Thank you, David Kessler, for the chance to share this story again.

Cynthia Erivo was absolutely brilliant in Jesus Christ Superstar. The presentation was amazing and otherworldly – it truly brought tears to my eyes. I saw it for the first time in the 70s and the message of the show is still relevant today.

Sometimes our pain feels too private, too overwhelming to speak aloud. I understand that. But I’ve learned, often without realizing it at the time, that telling our stories can be a form of healing.

Such a privilege to have this conversation with @makinggayhistory.bsky.social. I share the story of how — and why — I spoke my truth of living with HIV back in '92. I hope it brings comfort to anyone who feels silenced.
