I agree there have been rough patches.However, that’s not the whole picture- my son went to MIT on a generous scholarship as have many Canadians - they have been welcomed and treated with respect. That’s not ‘abuse’.

As for the U.S. not caring about us - don’t mistake Trump for the entirety of 🇺🇸

We rarely order in but this is one recipe I just can’t nail so, last night we ordered Thai satay and peanut sauce, making my breakfast leftovers delicious!

I love breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast.

Excellent recommendation- not only for avian flu but also, raw flour contains E. Coli and salmonella and raw eggs contain salmonella.

Risks of raw dough Flour doesn't look like a raw food, but most flour is raw. That means it hasn't been treated to kill germs that cause food poisoning, such as Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella. These harmful germs can contaminate grain while it's still in the field or flour while it's being made. Steps like grinding grain and bleaching flour don't kill harmful germs—and these germs can end up in flour or baking mixes you buy at the store. You can get sick if you eat unbaked dough or batter made with flour containing germs. Germs are killed only when flour is baked or cooked. Raw eggs are another ingredient in dough and batter that can make you or your loved ones sick. Raw and lightly cooked eggs can contain Salmonella.

I’m a fiend about cooking eggs with no runny yolks - my mother is a parasitologist and would have had our heads if we didn’t.

Eating runny yolks "isn't ideal," says Goodridge, because runniness means the yolk isn't thoroughly cooked. If that egg carries bacteria, such as salmonella, they could survive, and you could be at risk of food poisoning.

The Epstein debacle being broadcast around the world is a huge problem.

I’ve treated victims of childhood rape and they’ve been not believed, ignored and maligned. Now victims are forced to relive this.

If you’re not worried for all the victims, you’re not paying attention.

Our daughter is sick, so I asked if I could help and would be happy to make her soup. She was thrilled and asked for the shrimp dumpling soup she loved.

I texted our son in 🇬🇧telling him she’s sick, because they’re very close and also, to forestall any requests for shrimp dumpling soup from him:
The problem: I've never made shrimp dumpling soup in my life. I told her it must have been her other mother who made it. e I asked her to order in and put it on the family card. This is an FYI in case you too are unclear about which mother made shrimp dumpling soup.

Of course patients should be seen in 90 minutes in the ER and 95% of cancer surgeries should completed by 56 days but, rather increasing resources, it’s doctors who are financially penalized for the lack of resources and fined $500k if they object:

Bill 2 also includes a section that prohibits doctors from engaging in what the government considers "concerted actions" to challenge government policies. Physicians can be fined up to $20,000 for each day an offence is committed. In the case of a group, the fines reach a maximum of $500,000.

Spent 3 hours waiting to renew my passport - thank you to the gentleman (about 3 years old) who sang the line “Alouette, gentille alouette” on repeat for about half an hour, robustly and with utter confidence, making the wait utterly adorable.

Will miss this old beautiful passport.

On Remembrance Day we remember my husband’s uncle who died in the skies over Europe and his father, who never recovered after losing his twin and the fighter pilots he taught. We remember my husband’s mother who lost many she loved.

This is sobering “the white nationalist movement in Canada has never been larger.”
Evan Balgord of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network said the Exiles conference is more proof that white nationalism is on the rise in Canada. "Whether you want to judge it by the number of supporters of the white nationalist movement, by their capacity for fundraising, or by the number of people who are signing up for their more militant groups, the white nationalist movement in Canada has never been larger."

I like the automatic tax filing for low income Canadians and the tax credit for PSWs - we need more of them.

If you're a business owner hoping to take advantage of the new Canadian Entrepreneurs' Incentive (CEl) on the sale of your business, you're out of luck. The CEI, which was introduced in last year's federal budget, would have further reduced the tax rate on up to $2 million of capital gains over an individual's lifetime on the sale of a qualifying business. The lifetime limit was to be phased in by increments of $400,000 per year, beginning on Jan. 1, 2025, before ultimately reaching a value of $2 million by Jan. 1, 2029. This measure would have applied in addition to the lifetime capital gains exemption, which was recently enhanced to $1.25 million. The budget announced the government's intention to cancel the CEI in light of its decision earlier this year not to proceed with the proposed increase to the capital gains inclusion rate.

The federal budget announced Tuesday is set to slash 16,000 positions, or about 4.5 per cent of the public service workforce, over the next three fiscal years to return the size of the bureaucracy to a "more sustainable level." That target is "relatively modest," according to one expert, even as federal public sector unions prepared for deep cuts. The reductions are expected to begin in April 2026 and continue until 2029, according to the budget.The government says the public service has grown at a rate "far greater" than the Canadian population, peaking in 2024 at just under 370,000 employees.
