I'm *retired* dammit. Why am I busier than ever?
Retired computer geek and historian. writer. Happy grandmother. Knitter, knitwear designer, baker. Relationship complicated. Living the life on an island in Lake Superior.
Dozen veteran friends, some of them Republicans, have been jumping up and down and shouting "of COURSE you refuse illegal orders! Have you never heard of Nuremberg Trials?"

I gave that "no expectation of privacy" speech for years. It meant that if you were doing something illegal and using a university computer we didn't need a warrant. It did not mean that we could record you using your computer at home. That's something else entirely including creepy as fuck.

Reading thru this thread, I'm reminded, once again, why I own all your books. And just bought the first 5 Incryptids for my youngest granddaughter's borthday. She has worn out her copy of Fear and was so happy to hear Mira Grant had written other stuff "as somebody else.

Absolutely . Was there an argument about that?

I love it.

I have had this conversation with my Congressman, Jack Bergman.

Stop. Breathe. Shake your fist at them and call them stubborn b*stards.

I wrote a short story about a "zombie apocalypse" and ran into issues. Fuel was the big one. My techies suggested biodisel until I asked how to make it. Alcohol is renewable and easy to make but not interchangeable with petro in modern engines. Horses for farming but not for a fishing boat. Fun.

I hate when that happens. But it still tastes good.

(I have Starter Villian on audio and made the mistake of listening to it where my cats could hear. Now they're actively plotting instead of passively plotting.)

I follow you for the cats. .... .... yup. Cats.

We used to find "family books" and read them aloud on long car trips. Now audiobooks keep me awake on long car trips. (Drove 400 miles yesterday. Listened to The Hobbit and managed to avoid 3 complete idiots because I wasn't sleepy. Love audiobooks)

when you could only get audiobooks from the Library for the Blind, my mother fought very hard to get my dyslexic sister allowed to use them. I think the fact that they'd record books for school if they knew they were needed was the only reason she graduated from hs.

Yes.

I want one because it's cool... I like to think I'd fix things around the house but chances are I'd just build dragon skeletons and fidgits.

I like football. I get a lot of knitting done. I can't do car racing, tho. I have a friend who loves it, and I just do not see the attraction.
