I pre-ordered the new @frame.work AMD laptop and have been planning my Gentoo install on btrfs with read-only rootfs and transactional updates through btrfs snapshots ever since.

It’s been a while since I’ve been that excited about getting my hands on new hardware!

My only hope is that we are in the „The Empire Strikes Back“ part of the trilogy.

My alertmanager to ntfy webhook is finally working. The downside is that my homelab Kubernetes cluster thinks it’s without etcd instances. Time to fix my monitoring …

This Helldivers 2 limited edition of the DualSense controller looked too cool to pass up on, so I’m getting a very late Christmas present from myself in February when it releases 🙃

One of the last „official“ acts for this year: Gave a webinar on @kcp.io for @kubermatic.bsky.social, trying to create the final version of my introduction to kcp. If you’re interested in the project, I hope this can help you get started: youtube.com/watch?v=IN2w...

I just had to look up what „API“ stands for because my brain was adamant about not telling me what the „A“ meant. Autonomous? Advanced? Adventurous?

I swear I do this stuff for a living.

it's not without irony that I have two Kubernetes-native solutions connected and reconciling without a Kubernetes cluster/distro running. Just two binaries on my laptop.

github.com/awslabs/kro connected to a virtual workspace of github.com/kcp-dev/kcp, reconciling a custom crd

Off to the first Cloud Native Aachen meetup as official CNCF chapter. We are gonna hear about sigstore and observability at scale with @clickhouse.com at Shopify.

Don’t tell anyone I just organize these to learn interesting stuff myself 🤫

It's $currentYear = 2024 and I can't believe that I'm excited for a #LinkinPark album coming out tomorrow. Feels like it's 2010 again.

It's been a while, hello again bluesky! Might be a good idea to reactivate this, since a lot of CNCF Ambassadors are around now.

Not that anyone asked me, but I’m not worried about AGI in the least, I’ve seen what malformed YAML can do to an industrial-grade machine learning system

Ephemeral Containers in Action - Running a Go Debugger in Kubernetes
Ephemeral containers are an amazing recent feature in Kubernetes with great potential. We will explore that potential by running a live debugger session alongside an application pod and debug it remotely. The modern observability stack has transformed the way you troubleshoot issues in a microservice environment. Some situations however ask for investigation of a single application pod that seems to be misbehaving. Ephemeral containers provide a way to attach to a seemingly problematic pod without restarting it.This allows developers to observe an issue in a live or staging environment running on top of Kubernetes. We will discuss the practicality of launching a Go debugger (Delve) within an ephemeral container to remotely debug an application both on the CLI and in VS Code, highlighting the requirements and possible limitations one might encounter when trying to set up a similar troubleshooting routine. As part of that, we will explore the API for ephemeral containers and the current implementation in kubectl. While the talk will use Go and Delve as an example, the considerations and steps presented are of universal importance to running a debugger for your language stack of choice. --- Speaker: Marvin Beckers --- Cloud Native Rejekts EU 2023 Amsterdam, The Netherlands April 16-17, 2023 Website: https://cloud-native.rejekts.io/
