Playing guitar is so life affirming. And you can learn other skills like soldering as you decide to modify them. My 15yo loves playing guitar and even took an old one of mine and made it his own (before and after pics)

Every morning the sunlight hits our front door and frames the balcony rails perfectly. I’ve been putting a bowl of cat food for local birds and it’s the favourite show of one of my cats.

Here’s a video I took of my indoor only cat the other day. I leave out some cat food in a bowl for local magpies and currawongs and the winter sunlight perfectly framed the shadow in our door glass. It’s his favourite show.

Apropos of this post, I am drinking my coffee from my favourite mug this morning which I bought at the excellent Civil War museum in Richmond VA. Well worth a visit!

Hey Matthew, this is an old post but here are some Rainbow Lorikeets we fed with peach on holiday today. They are stunningly beautiful birds.

In Canberra they’ve taken on the urban bird role that gulls do and can be pretty keen on stealing human food. So much so that there’s a sculpture on one with a chip (French fry) in the city! And here’s a photo I once took of one getting up close and personal.

Coming back to this, Australian magpies are beautiful and highly intelligent birds who just happen to be incredibly protective of their young. These signs are pretty common as being swooped can be unpleasant!

There’s an episode of the History of England where he relates a conversation reported by a 10th century Abbot that he had with a ploughman that is quite instructive: thehistoryofengland.co.uk/resource/tra...
