@patrickwyman.bsky.social enjoyed your Alexander the Great cameo! Your discussion of the personality that is traumatised but unable to stop going back to danger put me in mind of WWI fighter pilots who, even when offered safety, refuse it like Albert Ball. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_...

Footballers live pretty abstemious lives, which is why watching them really cut loose after winning something is very funny www.reddit.com/r/coys/s/wik... #coys
From the coys community on Reddit: Currently - staff can’t get Brennan to leave the stage as he continues to do trophy lifts by himself 😂😭

@dorianlynskey.bsky.social hi Dorian, just want to tell you how much I enjoyed your Bunker interview with Mark Neville. It was really engaging and inspiring. More power to both of you.

@dorianlynskey.bsky.social @iandunt.bsky.social great 1st episode on Appeasement, I’m looking forward to the second. On the subject of famous relatives of the politicians involved, George Lansbury’s son was Edgar Lansbury, a Communist politician who worked with the suffragettes. 1/

@dorianlynskey.bsky.social @iandunt.bsky.social listening to your excellent live show episode and your comments on ‘normalising’ make me think of the modern media we’re in Washington in the 70s the line would be ‘…in response the President said that he is not a crook.’ And that would be that.

Just told my wife I’d seen something in Bluesky.

‘What’s Bluesky?’

‘It’s Twitter, for people who aren’t cunts.’

Listening to this week’s Behind the Bastards episode by @iwriteok.bsky.social and it keeps reminding me of Alan Partridge:
a man in a suit and tie says " dan dan "
Alt: Alan Partridge shouts " dan dan "

Bad day for conservatives in the Anglosphere who think their MAGA hats make them de facto Americans.

As a middle aged man (50 next month, HTF did that happen?) Jamelle is spot on here. I’ve been coaching my son’s soccer teams for 10 years and try to model a supportive and inclusive masculinity. So tired of the idea that being unable to regulate emotions is ‘strength’.
one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

@jordanharper.bsky.social just posted a reply to you on the bad place about how much I loved your three novels. I’ve read all three since last Friday and they are wonderful. Well done.

Started reading this… piece and people defending her saying that travelling to a new city can be intimidating and remembering travelling in Eastern Europe and just buying a map and phrase book at the airport or rail station and walking around.

I travel 100 days a year, but I'd never been to New York City until now. There were literal highs but disappointing lows.
I spend a third of my year traveling, but I somehow didn't make it to New York City until this winter. My first trip to the Big Apple was interesting.
