Had to reread chapter E… boils down to when and why - I can understand that the more high falutin’ terms like ‘papacy’ stick to the Norman and more pejorative terms like ‘popish’ are from the popular word pope but did people ever say or write ‘pape’? ‘Pope’ is in Chaucer.

It’s really good and cheap at twice the price (obviously taking the moral high ground as I bought mine in an indie bookshop)…. I enjoyed it very much!

Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as “legitimate concerns” you will alienate people. /1

Bravo - really enjoyed it - the music is getting bigger and badder. We only live 40 mins away and that was way past our bedtime. And everyone is really nice at Just Dropped In. (You obviously didn’t get the memo about Dungarees.) Hope all goes well tonight say hi to Elizabeth Alker.
