Somerville, MA, greatest city in the world, baby.
I have to think ZM had a feeling he could get these sound bites into the discourse.

100% Trump is going to recant and go back to calling Z a communist jihadist or whatever, prob as soon as tomorrow, but still, incredible flex from Mamdani here, got all the love, gave nothing in return.

Last year I went to a great talk by @debcha.bsky.social about urban infrastructure accompanying a showing of Escape From New York (excellent pairing) and this slide stuck out to me so much.

We can choose to help people, but this country repeatedly chooses to fill infrastructural holes with cops.

While you're in the Albers world, def check out his wife Anni's work. She was a weaver, and wove wonderful minimalist art pieces on looms, absolutely incredible artist

My parents, who normally wouldn't get anything like this, ordered this series for our house when I was a kid and I constantly scared the shit out of myself reading them

For making some of the best music of the past decade, worthy of multiple holidays.

I’d had Richard Hofstadter’s “The Paranoid Style In American Politics” on my to-read list for years but finally got through it and sheesh. I knew it’d be relevant to today but still wild and profoundly unnerving just how much.

It's really all about the drawing on the back cover for me

Truly spellbinding show from Tara Clerkin Trio at Warehouse Xi in Somerville last night. Honestly hard to describe, can't remember the last time I saw a band that sounded so new, so of the time.

taraclerkintrio.bandcamp.com go see them if you can, get records if you can't.

Not an obscure band by any stretch, but I think The Cardigan's LIFE was way better than its follow-up, the giant hit. I bought this album knowing nothing about the band but when I saw the CD cover in HMV in Harvard Sq I couldn't resist, and I was right, lol. Perfect album.
