The word equity is often misused. Equity in education means using the most effective practices grounded in applied cognitive science and language acquisition research. This is how we disrupt cycles of injustice.

Without question, (bi)literacy is a human right. Every student deserves access to grade-level complex texts, the ability to leverage all their linguistic resources, foundational content knowledge, and the opportunity to write with purpose.

Without question, (bi)literacy is a human right. Every student deserves access to grade-level complex texts, the ability to leverage all their linguistic resources, foundational content knowledge, and the opportunity to write with purpose.
Over time, I recognized how systemic injustice, often rooted in poverty, shaped daily life. Reflecting on my own experiences, I recognized the need to intervene earlier, through education.
