Cool paper. Worth noting that performance of individual contributors to SLR were more variable — underestimating SLR from Greenland and Antarctic ice loss and overestimating SLR caused by thermal expansion.

A black-crowned night heron chowing down on a fish to go with your great blue!

Thanks for running!

This young kestrel has been hanging out in Park Slope for at least a week. I asked the Wild Bird Fund about it and got this reply:

As long as the bird has some or most of its feathers, and is able to stand up and walk or hop, then it does not need any help.

A young American kestrel was chilling next to a stoop in Park Slope. It let me get close enough to take this photo with my phone. Weird!

Much to my relief, it flew away soon after.

Not young, but still loves playing in the snow

Great capture

I didn’t get as good a shot, but the size of the catfish the cormorant was struggling to swallow makes up for it. 😁

The highlight of my birding this weekend was this #cormorant getting a workout swallowing a catfish that was perhaps a size or two too large!

Too cool! I got a perched osprey (which I never see, normally).

Wood ducks are most egregiously “fancy”! They have pretty much the same colors as the northern shoveler, but it looks like someone just got lazy in distributing those colors on the shoveler. 😁

American Coots are regular residents at the lake in Prospect Park! 😁

We also have year-round wood ducks.

Thank you. Today is devastating.

Here’s my sweet boy, who is blissfully unaware of current events.

I suspect theft, but who would abscond with one fifty-pound dumbbell? Except this guy.
