Studio needs to comment on the GPT flavor text (I'm curious how many times they used it, so far all I can see is a single background panel in the ship.)
Looking at Maxwell side by side with the other renders, it is odd how differently he's lit and rendered.

Absolutely, when I found the panel ingame that had that GPT flavor text I was convinced, the fact it's tucked away only proves they used GPT.
I think the uncanniness comes from just the nature of those types of renders. There's quite a number of CG renders, so they had the ability to do them.

All of those listed reasons are because you're staring at a tiny photo, the full size image has none of those problems.

I'm not convinced. The full size image looks like real CG. Giveaway are the clothes, if this was AI they'd be hyper polished.
Doesn't help your photo is a hyper compressed photo of a monitor, instead of an actual game screenshot.

Then maybe don't shoot from the hip for a major accusation. If you look at the larger banner version of the art, it's clearly hand-drawn.
All the things listed by the original poster for it looking "AI", they were all clearly "artistic" decisions made by a real artist.

Very clearly not AI if you look up the larger banner of the cover, but even the low res cover doesn't look like AI. It has too many hallmarks of a real artist, handpainting elements, same with the other cover.
