The forgotten medlar. My parents have one that I've been pruning for a few years and it has made it crazy productive. Nearly 100kg this year. Mostly going into liqueur for a local maker! But we might do some jam.

Good morning, please enjoy this lovely badger who is a current regular on my camera trap. Female, I believe. Enjoying the cherry plums that drop from the branches I can't reach.

I was trying to show some friends a picture of my boyfriend and I together so I searched Google Photos for "couple" and it brought up this one of me and a Mr Bean waxwork 👍🏻

Oh what now Google? Seem to get one of these a week, mobile dev is not for the fainthearted y'all. No idea what this means.

Trying to figure out how to insulate a timber outhouse and why is it SO much harder to understand & make sustainable choices? How nice would it be for this to be the default so I don't have to exhaustively research something I don't understand? Anyway. Tips for sustainably insulating this v welcome.

Looooook! Breathe magazine did a gorgeous 6 page feature on the Isle of Wight Biosphere, our work as a committee and the Biosphere Festival and I am so proud. On newsagent shelves now. The festival starts tomorrow! www.iwbiosphere.org/biospherefestival. 💚

Running late this morning as obsessing over trying (and failing) to identify the results of my #30dayswild bug hunt, this little goober on an outdoor chilli. Recorded on Encounter Nature @encounternature.bsky.social. Any IDs? #entomology can't even tell if beetle, bug or fly tbh

Feels like I'm cheating at #30dayswild by spending two nights at Knepp. So far today, stork watching, bird spotting, pond swimming

Is it car ferry asset day? Our designer just delivered our programme with a super cute little ferry line drawing on. What's yours?

Up at 4.30 to go stand in the sea and look at quadrats of seagrass in the rain, and yeah absolutely no regrets even though very damp. Partly for science but mostly for the peaceful views, pottering herons, marine wildlife and chance that a baby cuttlefish will go pootling by like that one time.

Loved this shout out to the resilient Isle of Wight Hopper, little legend (as told by bigger local legend Ian Boyd), and neat example of the way nature is just getting on with it around our human nonsense @artecology-iw.bsky.social

On a wild and empty Isle of Wight beach yesterday I looked down at all the stones and thought, "I wonder if I'll finally find the sea urchin fossil I've been hunting for", and bent down to check and there, right there, right then, was this. Thrilling.

Who wants to see a solar powered sea slug? One of many completely awesome finds on an Isle of Wight rockpool safari yesterday (run by brilliant local marine biologists Theo Vickers and Laura McConnell theovickersmarinewildlife.co.uk/rockpoolsafa...). More here www.instagram.com/p/DI_D6LJIAev/

So have been testing the ID tools with it, along with @mzharrison.bsky.social 1. Siri 😐 2. Google lens 😐 3. PictureThis 🏆 4. Seek 🤨. Clear win for PictureThis and a familiar total fail from Seek.

Found this dead, pristine, dotted (?) bee fly today in the garden! So fabulous #beefly #bombylius #diptera.

Ahhhh just look at it. @patchworkfez.bsky.social / @irny.bsky.social's gorgeous RPG has arrived. The handouts are spectacular. I can't wait to try it.

Ooh I've never seen an orchid make a keiki/baby but I think that is what this phalaenopsis is doing? (Sometimes a sign of stress, it's not mine I'm just babysitting it but I can't pretend I look after mine that well either).

Well good news I got Photoshop CS5 working on my new laptop but, uh, there is just one problem 🧐

Oh, forgot to send this from a few weeks ago. (Also pics with my 5 year old niece playing with it but not putting those on socials). My parents like trying stuff from the book with her and she loves it, soaks it up!

Some fool put a concrete/cement plinth around this 17th century stone house and it is currently being removed but look what we found hibernating underneath in the process. Have put them somewhere a bit safer and quieter, hopefully. (Smooth newt, I presume?)
