This image of NGC 7714, taken by Hubble, shows the effect of an interaction between galaxies. An encounter with NGC 7715, which lies to the left, off frame, started a bout of star formation, seen in the blue arcs around this galaxy’s center: bit.ly/4cyLAjj 🔭 🧪
A galaxy that was disturbed by another passing one. To the left of the center, there is a bright core of stars surrounded by overlapping blue and yellow tails, each of which contain stars. The blue tail wraps around the core counterclockwise before extending to the right. A diffuse trail of blue stars points to the left. The yellow tail also wraps around the core counterclockwise, but more loosely, and in a slightly wider circle. Toward the right, there is small, fuzzy spiral galaxy. There are several red and white galaxies strewn throughout the image. The background of space is black.
