51 years a railway professional. Commercial, operations, media, marketing. Hogwarts fireman and guard. Olympic torch. East West Rail Alliance photographer. Special advisor to the Railway 200 project. The railways give a fantastic set of random activities.
Two steam stalwarts of West Coast Railway Company have been lost this month, John Daniel, joined BR in 1954 & Tommy Farr, also joined in the mid 1950s. I had the great fortune of firing to both of them in their WCR days. John on 6201 and by 44932/Tommy on 6233. @railway200.bsky.social

Wolverton Works' Ambulance trains in WW1 should be remembered for their life saving activities. Haig's train was also built there. And Dave Hilliard led a team fundraising for the WW1 Memorial to the 213 Wolverton Works men who died in WW1. @railwayheritage.bsky.social got us over the funding line.

In early September last year I was given privileged access to a Records Centre. Imagine my surprise when offered the original 1823 Stephenson notebook which contained his precis and business case for the construction and operation of a thing called a railway, the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
