THANK YOU! I bring this up everywhere, including with my dad's coworkers at a space engineering retirement thingy, and they're all like ORLY? And I'm like bro, Mars is farther away, is full of cancer sand, has worse gravity, has no magnetosphere (Venus gets a temp one on the leeward side). Come on.

Agreed. We'd like to think editors have time to really breathe in a story, but especially with slush flooding by AI scripts, it's hard. Folks should blame AI and a lack of support for short story publishing (most editors are unpaid), not the editors themselves.
