linocuts... take time!
Graphite line art of a woman standing alone upon a craggy rock. The moon overlaps her face - she holds her hands as though cradling its orbit. The style is ispired by Pamela Colman Smith plus Magritte. A linocut work-in-progress of the previous drawing. First test print of the linocut. A bit of mess is revealed: messy unwanted (by the artist) ink lines. Completed linocut print version of the original graphite drawing. Titled "The Moon", dated 2023.

from over our back fence, our neighbours have a security light that shines a harsh, direct beam through our kitchen window every night. i've fallen in love with it.

I'm never going to stop making art made with my own two hands. I *want* to be the one to make it start to finish. I want to pull together the details, to explore the colors and shapes, to create, to learn, to improve. My art is expression of myself, from ME. Otherwise, what's the damn point?

This artwork is based on the legend of Princess Hagi, which is passed down at Bandai Atami Hot Springs in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Hagi is the name, but the characters are the kanji that represent the plant Bush clover.

A cautionary, “All good things come to an end...” While she dances away her day, the ground which supports her erodes into nothingness.
