New paper out in @jexpsocpsych.bsky.social !

We (@kwinter.bsky.social, @kaiepstude.bsky.social , Bob Fennis and I) found that encouraging counterfactual thinking reduces engagement with conspiracy theories (i.e., clicks on, and reading times for, conspiracy articles).

We all know that people can study all kinds of things.

Yes, people can study humour but not be funny. Or be hilarious.

People can study videogames, but not play them at all. Or be addicted.

Can't assume that #MeSearch is in operation. Or that research activities map onto researcher's morals.

I always feel it’s a #SciComm pity that there seems to be no real culture or incentive among German psych scientists to write #PopSci books. So, I really admire that @einanfang.bsky.social actually did it! Excited to find her new book »Female Mindsets« in my mail - looking forward to diving in!

Very proud of this new PostDoc! It was an impressive defense worthy of an impressive researcher. Really happy that I could be there for the defense and for a part of your academic journey so far. Go, Franzi! 🥳🥳🥳
Last week, I successfully defended my dissertation on self-concept change after feedback 🎓

Doing research these past four years has been so fun that time flew by. Thank you to my current and former team members at LMU Munich and my supervisor @mariogollwitzer.bsky.social!

Victimhood claims in German political manifestos
Political campaigns often work with victimhood claims—stories construed around an (alleged) injustice that needs to be redressed or retaliated against. Notably, scholars have argued that victimhood c...

Speaking for myself, I definitely prefer and find more credible scientific (including social scientific) presentations that don't dwell much on the researchers themselves. Job talks, journal articles, news coverage, whatever.

How FAIR is shared data in psychology?

We analyzed 11,384 datasets (2013–2024): They're findable, but less reusable!

What relates most to differences in FAIRness? #Repository choice.
