To me, this is an illustrative case: Some #scicomm "best practice" is actually not well understood or supported by evidence. We need more and better research with comprehensive theorizing and methodological rigor at its core. And: we need better research-to-practice transfer and exchange. 💬 3/3

While one of the most common practical recommendations, the empirical evidence paints a disenchanting picture: Personal disclosure might benefit warmth-related perceptions, while costing competence-related perceptions. The overall practical impact is unconvincing and there might even be risks. 🫤 2/3
