We were surprised there were no cops along the way. After reaching 26th I doubled back up 5th and saw 3 cops at 30th. I asked why there weren't any cops and they said they weren't expecting such a big crowd.

I recently read that the footage where Humphrey Bogart nods his approval to the orchestra was filmed before that scene was shot. It was just supposed to be filler to have on hand as needed. I agree it's one of the greatest movie scenes of all time.
