Congressman for California’s 39th District. Proudly representing the Inland Empire 🏔️🍊🌴
Threatening to strip Americans of their citizenship isn’t “tough on crime.” It’s authoritarian. We don’t protect democracy by targeting immigrants. We protect it by upholding equal rights, due process, and human dignity. Reckless statements like this have no place in our politics.
Trump says he would 'absolutely' denaturalize some citizens if he had the power
"If I have the power to do it -- I'm not sure that I do, but if I do -- I would denaturalize, absolutely," Trump said on Sunday.

Since 1988, Dec 1 has marked World AIDS Day, a time to raise awareness and honor lives lost. But this year, the Trump admin refuses to acknowledge it. That silence won’t erase the crisis that decimated the LGBTQ+ community. It dishonors those we’ve lost and those still fighting.
Trump Administration Will No Longer Commemorate World AIDS Day
The State Department warned employees not to use government funds for the occasion and to “refrain from publicly promoting World AIDS Day through any communication channels.”

Millennials did everything “right”—they got degrees, started careers, and saved what they could. But between soaring prices and high interest rates, homeownership is out of reach for many. The American Dream shouldn’t be inaccessible. We need policies that put working people first.

This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the strength and compassion of our communities in the Inland Empire and across the country. May today be a time of reflection, connection, and care for our neighbors, our loved ones, and those in need. Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful holiday.

In one week, Trump gutted clean water protections, weakened the Endangered Species Act, and opened 1.3 billion acres to oil drilling.

Climate justice can’t wait, and we can’t let this damage go unanswered.
In One Week, Trump Moves to Reshape U.S. Environmental Policy
The Trump administration this week moved to weaken the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, two bedrock laws, among other deregulatory moves.

Trump’s attacks on immigration and science are pushing doctors out of our country. As hospitals face critical staffing shortages, we can’t afford to lose any healthcare professionals. His policies are a threat to public health, especially in rural and underserved communities.
'Nobody wants to come': What if the U.S. can no longer attract immigrant physicians?
Immigrants make up a significant proportion of all the country's doctors. New policies are making it harder and less appealing for foreign-born physicians to come to the U.S.

Trump’s economic approval has dropped 15 points since March. Among independents, disapproval surged to 76%. Why? Because people are fed up with rising costs and zero solutions. We deserve leadership that’s focused on improving the lives of the American people.

Inflation is rising, and wages aren’t keeping up. Nearly 29% of low-income households are living paycheck to paycheck, spending over 95% of their income on basics like groceries and utilities. Forcing people to live in survival mode isn’t sustainable. Workers deserve better.

We’ve seen it in D.C., LA, Chicago, and now Charlotte. Armed raids don’t make communities safer. They just spread fear and chaos.

Over 250 people have been arrested in Trump’s latest crackdown. Communities are living in fear and lives are being upended. Charlotte deserves better.

We saw the chaos Border Patrol agents caused in LA and Chicago. Now Trump is targeting Charlotte, where 81 arrests were made on day one. Many people were taken from work without a criminal record. This cruelty is becoming routine. It’s on us not to look away.
U.S. Border Patrol Arrested 81 People in Charlotte, N.C.
Border Patrol agents descended on Charlotte over the weekend, searching for immigrants who are in the country illegally. It remains unclear how long the agents will stay.

The Trump administration’s billions in NIH cuts stripped over 74,000 people’s access to clinical trials that could lead to life-saving treatments. When we defund science, we gamble with lives. Cutting costs should never come at the expense of people’s health.

Millions of families are falling behind on utility bills. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is cozying up to tech giants whose energy-hungry data centers are driving up costs. Working families shouldn’t pay the price for political backroom deals.

International students enrich our classrooms, communities, and economy. A 17% drop in new enrollment, driven by Trump-era visa policies, is a self-inflicted wound. It’s time to fix our visa system, and reject xenophobia masked as policy.

The Supreme Court is now taking up a case that would strip mail-in voting protections and essentially throw away ballots mailed by Election Day. This is a direct threat to democracy, plain and simple.
