This was a fun project to tackle, making the Low End Mac website graphics from scratch in Photoshop using inspiration from modern web design. It's only one page, the site uses pngs/jpgs to retain compatibility with older Macs (so no modern javascript or anything!), but I like it so far.
As Low End Mac grows, I've been thinking of ways to redesign the site. While I can't exactly bring a tiled-masonry theme all over the website yet, this page is a hint/an idea of what's to come.

The idea is to bring it into 2025. Come check it out!

Incredibly sad.. Dorothy was very beloved and I very much loved the show Golden Girls! Really, it breaks my heart. Just goes to show this has nothing to do with DEI at all..

Web page about iconic Golden Girls actress becomes latest victim of DEI purge
Bea Arthur, who served in the Marine Corps, has had her wartime contribution scrubbed from the Department of Defence (DOD) website. The URL now reads "DEIBefore".

"So even when we’re shown how it could happen here, we’re subtly reassured that it won’t..."a good read about authoritarianism and how life can seem "normal" in one.

This was a fun project. Need to get back to making videos again.
Did you know? With a PCI to PCIe adapter, you can add PCIe to any PCI/AGP-based PowerPC Mac that supports it in software! Here is a 1999 Power Mac G4 Sawtooth booting with a G5 Nvidia GeForce 6600 LE PCIe.

May need some help with this 😅
The Logitech Touch Mouse app was at one point available in the app store, and it allowed you to control your PowerPC/Intel Mac right from your iPhone or iPod touch.

The .IPA is nowhere to be found on the internet.. working on removing my old Apple ID off of this so anyone can download it.

There are things I dislike about the modern world, but one of them of most certainly not the economics of used electronics.
It's rather amazing how cheaply used Macs can be had for these days. Now it's a networked file server for OS images and PPC/Early intel Apps!

2009 Mini: $10
256 GB SSD: $13
8 GB DDR3: $13
1 TB 2.5" HDD: Free
ATA/100 to SATA adapter: $6

Total: $42

This iMac 5,2 (17" 2006) may not have had its housing anymore, but that doesn't stop it from being a fully functional Mac. Complete with a 2600 XT via the airport slot, graphical hardware acceleration, and Piker Alpha Boot.EFI for OS X Yosemite. @actionretro.bsky.social @ctrl-alt-rees.com
