vulpinefever • 4h @Operator@ Because TTC management is convinced that their vehicles are filled with explosives, apparently. The TTC has a very safety obsessed culture, particularly in streetcar where much of the new LRT management came from. Management doesn't actually ride transit for the most part so they don't care if a line is extremely slow if it reduces the chance something bad could happen and they have to answer questions and fill out paperwork. They would leave the cars in the yard collecting dust if they could, that way, nothing bad could possibly happen.

Yves Engler post: Time to confront NDP's racist foreign policy problem Would it be racist for the NDP to exclude a white cis male who played Junior A hockey from its leadership race? Maybe so, if one considers it from a Haitian or Palestinian perspective. On November 10, I formally submitted to NDP vetting. It's now up to the three-person vetting committee to decide if party members will be allowed to vote for me in the leadership race. It would undoubtedly be undemocratic for the backroom committee to deny the participation of a campaign with a thousand volunteers, but would it be racist? Or to ask it slightly differently is it racist to exclude someone who has led the charge against Canadian policy towards Palestine, Haiti, Africa and the Global South? If one concludes that Canadian foreign policy is fundamentally racist then it probably would be racist to exclude a leading critic of those ideas.
