It’s crazy that I’ve never seen The Church play live before but I rectified that last night. The first date of their Singles tour was wonderful. I have such warm memories of their songs going back to The Unguarded Moment in 1981. It’s worth catching them if you can get a ticket!

Writing at the State Library of Victoria today. It’s beautiful here. Pity about the people talking near me… headphones essential.

Oh well played, Guardian. Well played.

At MONA, north of Hobart, watching Scattered Order play an electronic set. Drones, noise and vocals over the top of skittering beats. I bought their album “Selling the Axe to Buy the Wood” in 1987. Good to see them still going, challenging the MONA audience.

Three weeks after Olive fell from our 3rd floor balcony, she’s healing well. It’s amazing to see her jumping up on our bed and rolling over for tummy rubs. What a lucky girl. First photo is from yesterday. Second photo is from 3 days after her fall.

2024 has been terrible for me. But yesterday was the worst day. While we were out, Olive jumped up on our balcony railing & fell 3 storeys onto the concrete below. We found her hiding across the road. After X-rays & a night in hospital, she's back at home. Incredibly, she has no internal injuries.

Tummy rub?

Don’t be fooled—it’s a trap!

I’ve been a The The fan since the early ’80s. But this I’d the first thing I’ve seen them live. The first set—their new album—was excellent. Note waiting for the Best Of set to finish the night off. I can’t wait to hear those classic songs live.

I saw this amazing documentary about Brian Eno tonight. It’s generated live in-cinema by the director, so it’s a different movie every time. Well worth seeing.
