Person of interest. Notorious waterfront character. Notify authorities if you see this man. Also, author, journalist, husband and father. Probably good for a small loan, depending on your spiel. Plays mandolin, not well but with gusto.
My book, "Just One Little Hitch," is Amazon's #1 Hot New Release—in the Historical African Biographies category. Boy, oh boy, this is so wrong, considering that a) it is more hysterical than historical, b) I'm not African, and c) it's a memoir, not a biography. Other than that, they nailed it!

A reason that hitchhiking in the 1970s was so cool: The cars were awesome. Here are some of the car models I got rides from in my travel memoir, Just One Little Hitch (available 11-15 from Amazon). And yes, I got a ride from a mule cart. Follow the link for more: justonelittlehitch.com?page_id=806

Then and now--when I was in my early 20s, hitching through Europe and Morocco, and now, as an old geezer. My memoir about those hippie days on the highway is "Just One Little Hitch," available on Amazon in paperback and ebook.

The Swahili settlement on Lamu, off the coast of Kenya, is more than 700 years old. Until 50 years ago, the only way to get here was by dhow. That isolation helped preserve the unique architecture and traditions of the island.

Pemba Island and flying foxes. Pemba is part of the Zanzibar archipelago. And flying foxes are actually bats. The people of Pemba were very happy to meet us. Sweet people.

Heading out to Cosmoledo, one of the Outer Islands of the Seychelles, on a Zodiac tour. This morning we went reef snorkeling to see parrotfish, groupers, and even a big leatherback turtle. If you like snorkeling and exploring remote islands, it’s hard to beat the Seychelles.
