Person of interest. Notorious waterfront character. Notify authorities if you see this man. Also, author, journalist, husband and father. Probably good for a small loan, depending on your spiel. Plays mandolin, not well but with gusto.
Six free London museums in eight hours?! That's nuts. But if you enjoy jars full of pickled moles, vintage "lunatic restraints," Napoleon's toothbrush, ornate 19th-century enema syringes, and such rarities, I've got an itinerary for you! Mark Orwoll is at It Again. (Have a free subscription yet?)

Three Peruvian bananas made me a better traveler. Well, a more fearful one. It also led to my research into Nigerian noodle smugglers. No, I'm not on an acid trip. It's just that Mark Orwoll is at it again....

Not all hotel name changes rank high on the Orwoll Smart Meter. Here's my investigation into why some names succeed and others fall flat (I'm looking at you, Air Travel Hotel!). markorwoll.substack.com/p/whats-in-a...
What’s in a Hotel Moniker, I mean Handle, that is to say Appellative, perhaps Title, or maybe just Name?
Sometimes, a hotel’s initial brand is the best. So why do they keep changing?!

Did you know that the famous firepits on California's beaches almost went extinct in 2013?! True! But the ghosts of Gidget and Moondoggie saved the day against Thurston and Lovey Howell III. My latest column for Mark Orwoll Is at It Again! markorwoll.substack.com/p/frankie-an...
Frankie and Annette, Gidget and Moondoggie
California's coastal residents once stood up for a fundamental American right—to barbecue hot dogs and drink beer (ssh!) on the beach at sunset. They are heroes…

In my quest to become a film reviewer, I erred in watching "Night Patrol." I wrote that the movie was ''cinematic sewage" and "a steaming shipload of senselessness." My favorite part was the closing credits. Here's my review for Highbrow Magazine. www.highbrowmagazine.com/26087-night-...

Hey, gang! Let's all go to France and steal their diamonds! And no, I don't mean those amateurs who broke into the Louvre in October. I'm talking about an even bigger ice heist, one with élan and panache. So come with me now to the humble seaside village of Cannes, won't you? tinyurl.com/ye24py6k
Diamonds Are Forever
The recent Louvre robbery was a disgrace compared to the elegance, the élan, of 'le vol de diamants du Carlton,' in which the thief was cool and suave, but security was totally inept

A Wee History of Berlin's Historic Urinals. At least one of them now serves a darn good burger! These ornate pissoirs are fading into the gloaming, slowly replaced by modern toilets that have as much charm as a self-storage unit. Mark Orwoll Is at It Again! markorwoll.substack.com/p/pissed-off...

My book, "Just One Little Hitch," is Amazon's #1 Hot New Release—in the Historical African Biographies category. Boy, oh boy, this is so wrong, considering that a) it is more hysterical than historical, b) I'm not African, and c) it's a memoir, not a biography. Other than that, they nailed it!
