I’m just a regular person with a little retirement egg 401k cooking away out of sight. Lately I’ve been researching international dollar-hedged funds to play defense against my own government’s fiscal & trade policy. S&P index doesn’t feel like firm ground anymore. Physical gold funds anyone? Sigh.

There are some days when I think @nytimes.com‘s Wordle word is trying to tell me something about the timeline we are on. #nospoilers

For those who were bemused & puzzled about the booing of Taylor Swift: reports from those at the game were the crowd was decidedly pro Birds & they booed anything Chiefs related, including Chiefs players’ girlfriends. Attempts to read too much into it reflect more on the reporter than the subject.

New mantra for the year: a good day tomorrow starts with a good night’s sleep tonight. Gotta go on a screen diet after 11pm or I may never sleep again. #doomscrolling

How many days old were you when you learned that the framework known as Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is not generally supported by empirical evidence? The needs matter but the requirement to have basic needs met in order to need higher level needs has been largely debunked. #themoreyouknow

For anyone out there struggling to retain information as they learn - job training, high school, college, graduate school - I highly recommend the book Make it Stick by Peter Brown et al. (Belknap Press, 2014). Shows how the mind takes in information and strategies to make learning stick.

Tracking the total number of U.S. Facebook users as the TikTok meltdown unfolds. Will user anger actually turn into action? The narrative on TT is Mark Zuckerberg’s lobbying $ was part of why the app was banned - as opposed to the official line of national security. Time will tell.

Just read an interesting meta analysis that found a positive correlation betw CSAT & retention behavior: rBEHAVIOR = 0.21. That means survey-measured CSAT only explains abt 4.4% of cust. defection. Fascinating finding. Lots of avenues for further study! Mittal et al, (2023): doi.org/10.1007/s110...
