Also, there are community spaces, many of which predate the George Floyd uprisings and have remained active. E.g., one cafe cooks and takes food to the major homeless encampments five days a week. Volunteering to do that (and/or teach adult literacy) sounds like a good retirement.

The Twin Cities. I like the culture/community, it's fairly affordable (more expensive housing but far better and cheaper health care), and there are lschools (UM, Augsburg, community colleges) where maybe I could adjunct for extra $ if I don't want to or can't continue to teach online for MiSU. /1

I lived it Fort Worth for many years. I'm sure you don't have the chance to get out and just do things, but if you do, the Kimbell Museum is well worth visiting.

I showed this to a few undergraduates who had never before watched a movie with subtitles and knew next to nothing about the period. They were rapt.
