Not the most diverse of stages in the BBC Wales Caerphilly candidates hustings. Reform’s Llyr Powell rather dominating proceedings - albeit sounding stroppy.

Senedd flags at half-mast following the awful news of the sudden death of MS Hefin David.

Dear @cardiffcouncil.bsky.social
These barriers along the length of Bute Park have gone up this morning, presumably ahead of the Blackweir concerts.
Overkill?

Sun-kissed bike ride to recce a tour option. (In my BBC days, recces normally involved checking satellite signals outside court buildings or schools )

At a time when multi-culturalism is under scrutiny…

Today I took visitors from Portsmouth, Spain and Canada to the Betty Campbell statue in Cardiff.
It celebrates how people can live together “regardless of where they come from or the colour of their skin.”
One of the guests was moved to tears.

As someone who mainly works from home these days, I must give myself a stiff talking to about how lazy I’m being. Must remember to clock on at 9am, not 7am.

Not your ordinary buskers. Sitting on a city centre bench getting a free concert courtesy of the rehearsal by the new occupants of the Old Library - Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

“Reached out”. Or as we used to say in what is now a quaint, old-fashioned term - “asked”.

Big turnout for the Sarah Everard memorial run - four years after she was murdered. Remembering her and other women killed at the hands of random men. It shouldn’t be about “keeping women safe” but about changing the behaviour of too many men.
Not just physical abuse but verbal too.

Had this through our door. Seems to be quite an active campaign against Cardiff Uni cuts.

These are small but significant figures, as Reform win a by-election in Pontypool - their first elected councillor in Wales. He’ll join the group of 3 Tory defectors on Torfaen council.

National Museum, Cardiff back open for business after its safety-enforced closure last week.
February 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM
People turning up at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff to find it closed at short notice due to “health and safety concerns”. Looks like a rush job judging by the sticky tape on the door. One family have just arrived from Swansea.

If you’ve lost your bike in Cardiff city centre this afternoon, I have some photos that might help.

Great to join Naz Khan talking about her running achievements with Lynne Bowles on BBC Radio Wales. Naz has the same condition as Chris McCausland and is just as inspirational.
Available on BBC Sounds (select just after 4pm). If you listen to the end, you get a bonus joke thrown in.

I’m reading The Stamp of Innocence which charts the appalling miscarriage of justice suffered by Ynys Mon sub-postmaster Noel Thomas.
He lies in his cell, wondering how he ended up there.
It’s a question the Post Office still haven’t answered.
“Where did that bloody money go?”

Fancy guide-running? Give it a go. I’ve just guided the amazing Naz Khan to her 12th fundraising half marathon in 12 months, rounding it off in Lanzarote.
I’m not getting any quicker so it’s hugely rewarding to help others to get the sense of freedom and achievement running can give you.
