Stockholm based. Brit-Swede. Northampton Saints and West Ham fan. Great fan of dystopias except when living in them.
It was a bad edit that should never have made the cut and for that the production team should take the fall. However, how it has been used by verified liars, bad actors, and news media with an agenda (coughs The Times) is fairly bleak.

Agree, this seems mad. Have benefited from childcare vouchers and the bike to work in the past – not many perks as it is nowadays but at least these were useful and helped out when needed most. Just up income tax and be done with it.

I don't like him particularly but surely it was the editor and overseer of the item who are ultimately at fault? I think this will more damaging long term.

It's overpriced and local chains have caught up.

It was going to happen at some point...now to slowly raise fuel duty again.

Thanks for sharing. The last line is particularly cutting – think this can be said about certain circles in the Nordics too. There's little to gain when so many loose.

I know it's an actor playing a character playing another character...but...Ethan Peck is winning at Spock currently based on this screenshot.

I like this Pope.

Believe it when he actual says it and doubles down repeatedly.

Truly the Bellingcat of classic sitcoms title sequences.

I'm sure this will have no unintended consequences

Farage too, right?

Exactly, this.

Unfortunately, yes but I also believe governments will find ways to act badly in other ways too. We saw that with the last government and voter ID. It just feels like a lot of the arguments against are worst case scenarios, and the benefits while fairly mundane, are quite useful.

Hi Sue, this isn't a bad idea. I've lived in Norway and now Sweden both have ID Cards and the systems work well across the board. However, the focus on it reducing immigration is appalling and wrong ...unified NHS care, social care, secure banking, authentication for elections, yes by all means.

@aiannucci.bsky.social Did not know a new series of Time Trumpet was on the cards.

Honestly, apart from Popeye's (which I think will do well), I cannot see any of those other brands establishing themselves – nothing positive in terms of brand/culture, and pretty miserable tasting food. I can't see these expansions working long term.

I hope more people go out and read the book...and then if possible reduce their footprint on meta as much as they can, as quickly as they can.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why you take an online YouGov poll with a pinch of salt.

Conceptually it's a grift of the highest order. And utter shite.
September 17, 2025 at 1:56 PM
Agree with this and I can imagine the vast majority would be too...would be an easy win. The group who will scream about this will never vote for them anyway.

Only 15 years too late on this. Another great legacy of the Cameron and Clegg years.
September 14, 2025 at 5:50 AM
I can't help but agree...it's the right call but so many others have done far worse and got away with it.
