James: Exactly. It is a tricky business--who are we to certify where advocacy ends and journalism begins? But we have to try; the alternative as you say is relativism. One suggestion is to give a few awards to young and new media independent online journalists.

Hi Rachel -- I am an academic and I am following you. A charitable interpretation of how you have been treated is that CBC is reacting to the Ezra Levant-led mob after the leaders debate, and is having trouble distinguishing responsible independent journalists like yourself from the rabble & Rabble

Well, we need to separate serious credentialed journalists from others in order to make this work--perhaps a lottery for non-credentialed press to keep the Rebel News types from dominating the press scrums too much?

I agree--Rachel is an example of a serious journalist who is adapted to new media and the Gen Z audience, etc. But we need a way to officially keep journalists and third parties separate, or we risk sliding even further into relativism.
