TV comedy writer/producer. Cricket tragic. History, politics, Tottenham Hotspur, jump racing…that sort of thing. And digital media Otto Quangel.
I'm not a reflex Daniel Levy hater - he's done a lot of good things at Spurs. But his inability to communicate properly, his lack of empathy and class in so many situations and his talent for sucking the joy out of the rare moments of success mean that ultimately he's a drag on the whole club.

It’s taken all season for Ange to play with a bit of pragmatism. Hope he learns from this. And hope he gets the chance to show he has next season.

Immortal Fame yesterday. Luttrell Lad today. Had a nice touch on both. Cameron Iles is a stylish jockey and his 7lb claim an absolute steal.

The Conservative Party has in 24 years gone from William Hague claiming we had 3 weeks to save the pound to Kemi Badenoch now saying actually it’s the whole of western civilisation.

And they were in power for 14 of those.
I mean, I don’t think she’s actually a fascist but this is fascist rhetoric: civilisation on the brink, imperilled by dark forces, only we are strong enough to save it. It is hysteria and demonisation. It is not the language of democracy.
Kemi Badenoch says “our country and all of Western civilisation will be lost” if the Conservatives don’t return to government.

The phrase “successive governments of both sides” which is used by Tories to distract attention from their own failures would have more traction if the maths supported the claim.

I turned 16 in 1979. So my adult life has seen:

Tory rule for 32 years.
Labour rule for 13 years and a bit.

Listening to a programme on Radio 4 about ITC. What a joy it must have been to have a producer like Lew Grade. A man who backed the talent, got behind the idea, and paid in advance!

Can someone put out a missing person announcement for James Maddison.

Admittedly often under pressure but Bentancur has given the ball away so often.

I’ve always thought that one of the most Spursy things in 50 odd years of watching them is that of all the Brazil number 9s from Pele onwards we get Richarlison.

I bow to nobody in my admiration for Glenn Hoddle but he seems to think Spurs are in control of this game. Has he not been watching us for the last 60 years?

I’m a fan of Ange but his reluctance to play Djed Spence more is truly baffling. His composure on the ball in our box to start the move for the third goal was exceptional. And he looks a better CB than Dragusin to me.

Jess Phillips is not always careful with her words but I trust her intentions.

Robert Jenrick is always careful with his words. But I never trust his intentions.

All the Big Government Reforms the Media Hasn’t Been Telling You About
You won't have read much about these announcements over the past few weeks

All rather magnificent. Can't help but speculate that if this project had been managed in the UK it would have been 6 years behind schedule, doubled in budget, the tiling would only go as far as the nave and a man in a G4S florrie would be waving guests past binbags of rubble.

“Excuse me, Mrs. Can we have our ball back ?”

“No you can’t. In fact I’ve punctured it. Now get off my doorstep.”
Audience member: "I don't think there should be any asylum... People are making far too much of war."

Audience member next to her: 😬 ~AA #BBCQT

So Tim Montgomerie has joined Reform. Perhaps now the totally bogus positioning by the media of this dangerous fool as a spokesperson for the soft cuddly centre right will cease.

Pick of The Week on Radio 4 just now repeat a highly partial interview with a farmer about inheritance tax using dodgy figures and getting little or no pushback from the interviewer. No balancing view broadcast. Editorially really poor.

As if Tom Latham’s day could get any worse after a proper mauling today, David Gower is currently calling him Rob.

Shoddy bowling effort from England in first hour. Poor lengths. Poor line. Low on speed.

What a mess Jonny Burke made of the last there at Uttoxeter. Completely threw it away on Fils de Roi. Horse came to a standstill trying to find a stride. #WalletTalking!

“We never used to lock our front door. But nowadays Blimmin’eck. It’s all smashed avocados and transgender toilets. And what’s happened to Vimto? We used to love that. And there was only one darkie in Sydenham. Bus conductor. Lovely teeth. And kids had proper diseases like rickets not AD ruddy HD…”
The great patriot doesn’t like the new Jaguar advert, so he hopes they go bust. What a horrid man.

Very good from That's Nice at Warwick. Winning on the bridle in Skelton's back yard and beating the impressive Honky Tonk Highway.

What a grubby saga this has been. One veteran's noble thought to raise a few quid has been exploited by family members and politicians like Johnson. It's a parable of our times.
Captain Tom's family benefitted from charity - inquiry
The fundraiser's family damaged public trust by not donating any money from his books, a report finds.

Thinking on his passing last week...my favourite Timothy West role was as Dr Rance in Joe Orton's What The Butler Saw.

"Despite my wife's nymphomaniac tendencies, she's about as difficult to get into as the reading room at the British Museum."

He was simply hilarious.
