Highly recommend this gripping, beautifully written article on Valerie Solanas, the ownership of ideas, art, madness, and feminist praxis + memory in @historyworkshop.org.uk

Betting is a corrosive, corrupting force in sport. Can't get through 5 minutes of a game on Sky without betting ads everywhere & plugs for Sky's own betting service. And here is The Athletic writing about the Turkish betting scandal with, oh lookee here, a betting ad buried in the story. Nuts.

It's a rotten world out there in so many ways. Arsenal F.C. can easily choose not to be part of it by not renewing their Visit Rwanda sponsorship deal.

Just don't Arsenal. Just don't. It's a rotten idea. And off the back of having tried to extend the Partey contract some kind of wilful malfeasance.

There was a time when there was a “ruins boom” in Japan. Bookstores were filled with related photo collections, and I remember buying some myself. Ruins somehow evoke scenes from the past, and I find their decaying appearance appealing.

Wondery has effectively killed off its crafted, deep dive audio podcasts for the easy money...video celeb content snacking. Almost like there's very little money to be made in serious, crafted audio. Almost like the kind of in-house RADIO culture the BBC was worth annihilating in the first place?!

This is very cool. Not all novel translations are in English however. I looked around for "Bot" by Max Kidruk and its only available in Polish. "Kaharlyk" by Oleh Shynkarenko sounds very close to the war now. That one is available in English. #Ukraine #Sci-Fi #Novels

Once upon a time, 2022,I wondered what Russian SF was up to? The answer was mad, far right fantasies of time travel. So I also wondered what Ukrainian SF was up to?
You can hear part of that answer from Max Kidruk, author of a massive Martian Trilogy, The New Dark Ages.
