Might have found some @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social today on Hollywood Boulevard? @phitter72.bsky.social @heavyjstudios.bsky.social

Sure, that could have been the reason (though Yaz and Killebrew also had 15 letters). They called him Roberto in 1955 and 1956, then switched. Other companies figured it out.

Searching the Sporting News archive from 1965 through 1969, the name "Bob Clemente" shows up 2 times, "Bobby Clemente" 0 times, and "Roberto Clemente" 794 times. Whatever their reasons, Topps went against the grain when they used "Bob" every year from 1957 to 1969.

Doug Clemens played parts of 9 yrs in majors. This is only Topps card. Why? Should have 1964-66 at least. Exclusive with Fleer (like Wills, Adcock, Short, Dick Hall)? I'd love to know for sure. @sabrbbcards.bsky.social @nightowlcardz.bsky.social @spoart.bsky.social @tjpilotsfan.bsky.social #cardsky

Literal socialism is 1000 times better than this.

Pal @dialofdestiny.bsky.social and I often exchange post cards. Lately he has sent me strange “post cards” cut from a larger photo. Today I got #4. We all have our heroes 🦸 .

(Completed puzzle is blown up image from one of my favorite baseball cards: 1970 Carl Yastrzemski.)

Satchel Paige pitched in Devil’s Lake, ND, in May 1935 during his summer with the Bismarck Churchills. I would like to think, for obvious reasons, that he dined here.

Today is the 50th anniversary for baseball's greatest game story, penned by the Boston Globe's Peter Gammons in just a few minutes. “And all of a sudden the ball was there, like the Mystic River Bridge, suspended out in the black of the morning." Forgive my choking up.

All ready to go.

I recently figured out that I have 221 of 275 of the original Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards. Does anyone have cards they wish to trade? I have about 80 extras, so perhaps we line up? @sabrbbcards.bsky.social @thelensofdonnam.bsky.social @heavyjstudios.bsky.social #cardsky

Diane Keaton was one of best actors of my life, one of the coolest humans to ever live, and a goddamn national treasure. 1 of 1.

My man @dialofdestiny.bsky.social sent me this hand-made “postcard”. #iykyk. @sabrbbcards.bsky.social #cardsky

Anyone here planning on being in Cooperstown next weekend? I’ll be there Thursday through Monday and occasionally hungry or thirsty. (Also @heavyjstudios.bsky.social which might be better enticement.)

Just found this photo I took 1990-ish. Main entrance to Baseball Hall which looks nothing like this now.

Anyone here from Williston, ND? Enclosed clip promotes game Satchel Paige to pitch 6/3/63. What’s more, Coach Phil Jackson claims he faced Paige in Williston in 1963 or 1964. Probably this game! Looking for confirmation that game happened.

My sister Jeanne and I at the ball yard last night watching Rays-Red Sox, and repping our alma maters. Between us, our schools have won 18 basketball championships, built the Brooklyn Bridge, run the Apollo 11 program, and founded Nvidia, not even counting our own accomplishments.

Headed to Tampa this morning to visit family (starring: Mom), starting with short leg to San Francisco. Meanwhile, I will ponder the film “This Property is Condemned.”

I’ve decided to build the 1960 Topps set. I only have 100 or so (the fact that I don’t know is a bad sign?), but I start with Yaz, Mays, Aaron, Clemente, McCovey, Koufax and several other stars. Anyhow if anyone has any doubles they wish to send my way I will reciprocate with other years. #cardsky
