Relapse in psychosis is a term that is used a lot, but what does it mean?

A (fab) DClinPsy trainee I am co-supervising is conducting an online survey to find out people's views and perspectives. Please consider taking part or reposting this study invitation.

Risk prediction systems are a ubiquitous part of our lives. They present real risks of harm, partly because novices interpret them as "data-driven" and objective, while experts who know better are rarely asked to evaluate them. They simply aren't questioned nearly enough by people who know how to.
2/ The algorithm, called TIGER, focuses on immutable factors from a prisoner’s past — work history, age at first arrest, prior drug convictions — to assess risk of reoffending.

Yet it fails to take into account anything a prisoner has done to rehabilitate themselves.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Fantastic thread from Chloe on why systems science approaches are so important in population health. Well worth a read!
In 2023, Scotland saw 1,172 drug related deaths (DRDs). Approaches to death prevention are complex as solutions require coordinated action across different sectors. How can we explore how causes of DRDs interact in our health and social care system?
Let's use systems mapping!🧵 (1/17)

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
