Briseis is def a princess (married to the son of a king before the Achaeans sack that kingdom and grab her).
There's also Cassandra (but nobody is fighting over her - just killing/cursing her).
I guess technically Helen is Spartan Queen/Trojan Princess.

His story - as relayed to Penelope - does have quite a lot of "and here's another woman* I boned on the way" - it does make them sound a bit like a middle-aged Berlin couple.

But it's not possible to consistently argue that it totally matters - the BBC must be turned upside down - AND Ofcom is fine set to sleep mode.

I think you("") could consistently argue that
(i) it doesn't matter, so it's irrelevant if the right response is for Ofcom to stomp on UK right-wing media attacks on the BBC vs BBC appeasement
(ii) it does matter, so it matters enough to figure out which of these is the right lever

The more practical question is "What - if anything* - caused it/what can/should the BBC/anyone else do about it?".
* If the Conservative Party chooses to pivot towards low trust voters is the rest of society obliged to attempt to balance that out somehow?

Actually quite an unusually weak effect for *any* trust measure by left-right self placement (at least, as found in BES data).

This is a great stock ending paragraph ... but is it true? Do people really not "have access" to alternative stories? And is that 'effective'?

That was a picky point - and available from the opener - but I read (and enjoyed!) it all the way through.
However, you do put more time/text into what you *don't think is effective* than what you do.

"Very articulate" does feel like one of those thing no one ever says about people they perceive to be from the middle/upper classes.
Nobody ever says "That Douglas Murray, he's a real ****** - but surprisingly articulate."

What mechanism would convey this pressure, if it's not the UK govt?
As far as I can tell, the BBC is not attempting to acquire a US media firm so this isn't the usual quid pro quo.

Also, we are living in the year 2025, over 4 years laters, having watched Trump repeat the false claims and pardon the insurrectionists.
So the argument is that he *definitely* wasn't endorsing it ... but came around to the idea several days later?

The claim from the Telegraph is that they cut speeches in such a way to make it look like Trump was endorsing the January 6th insurrection/whateveryouwanttocallit ...
... which leaves me wondering what alternate form of editing *wouldn't* have conveyed that.

All it says "pressure was mounting" ... but that the pressure wasn't from the UK govt ... or anyone but the Telegraph.

The past-non-voters who find Reform attractive ...
... are already giving Reform as their vote intention (and turning out to vote for them).
As a matter of fact, the people who - despite the political context - are currently non-voters if anything skew away from Reform.

Their politics isn't the result of "not being informed" - it's just that the information they seek out is stuff that confirms their priors.

You're confusing two different things:
(i) paying attention to/caring about politics
(ii) being generally well-informed
Reform voters pay *a great* deal of attention to/care a lot about their politics.

But demographically, it would make politics a lot more responsive to people who *aren't* elderly homeowners.
