I spent a lot of 2020 thinking about my very bad manager who took over the org I quit when I turned in our boss for harassment. She remained the highest paid employee there for years.

I have no insight. Some people seem to succeed at being terrible.

Also they posted this garbage on their linkedin page:

Totally gaslighting. Burnout is organizational... which is why an overworked nurse should still overwork herself, just not at the exact time her boss wants? What in the understaffed fuckshit is that?

She is the only person who talks about learning in her bio. Just... that tracks for a white led org.

Finally, the testimonials focus on personal responsibility over systems change. Most of them seem to come from healthcare or education workers. Notoriously exploitative sectors.

Also, despite the fact that they make use of stock images of people of color, most notably, disembodied Black hands next to their mission statement, there are no people of color on their board. And... one actual Black person on their entire website, as an advisor and not staff.

Their mission statement is to help people develop skills to create a kinder, gentler world but I've seen nothing so far that says why we need to be kinder and gentler. This systems agnostic approach makes people turn on themselves and each other, which keeps employers safe at the cost of staff.

The fact that they're using DBT as their modality is also a red flag. DBT is very useful for helping people name, process, express and manage their big emotions in a healthy way. Skills everyone needs, but if we're an employer with staff who are having breakdowns, the staff is not the issue.

Their use of the word resilience bothers me. Resilience is something you develop through hardship that can't be avoided. That implies that the onus is on the employee, not the employer to resource people and do better. But we know from systems work that employees don't have that power.

Going deeper into their website, they ask prospective clients three very general and vague questions: do you have stress? could you be a better communicator? is change difficult? Every person could answer yes to these, this is not helpful.

Without clicking on the link, here are the red flags:

1. Puzzle pieces are associated with Autism Speaks, an anti-autism hate group

2. Employees aren't supposed to be grateful for interventions on behalf of their health, they're not supposed to need them in the first place
