Women’s rights organizations urgently need to revise their strategies and staffing to address the level of regression and backlash we are facing. It is more visible, violent and coordinated—and it shows no signs of abating.

Development organizations resort to ‘gender’ has depoliticized feminist critique & work but even more importantly I think it is intended to obscure the work necessary. What do we need to do so men stop inflicting violence on women and girls? More focus on the perpetrators of the violence.

Would really encourage feminists especially to reconsider using Gender Based Violence (GBV) as a term to describe the epidemic of male violence against women & girls. We have a problem of male violence and the victims of this violence are overwhelmingly women and girls.

Is it really crisis or system collapse we are witnessing? And if it is collapse how can we respond in ways that further undermine oppressive systems?

The rules are different for women in politics. They shouldn’t be, but they are. Woe to the woman who thinks she is an exception for whatever reason.

I’ve been writing professionally for 34yrs. I started working as a reporter for a local newspaper when I was 23. I published my 1st book at 48. I had to fall out of love with journalism–the run, run, don’t slow down school–before I could write my 1st book. www.feministgiant.com/p/the-wonder...

2024 is the centennial of James Baldwin's birth! Throughout the year, there are celebrations of every sort. Among them: the reminder that JB Review’s 10th anniversary lands in this momentous year!

I’m also aiming to get to the Schomburg’s Baldwin exhibition before it closes Feb 28th.

One of the most exciting things about being an entrepreneur is allowing yourself to dream with abandon (before you face reality). I hadn’t realized how much I missed the dreaming.
