Scenes from the RV Kronprins Haakon research vessel which has just reached sea ice at 80° N.
We are headed out for a research cruise with @cdeepsea.bsky.social into the polar night, hoping to find some nice worm forests and other cool animals from deep-sea chemosynthesis-based ecosystems 🤓 #WormFEST #CBEArctic 🪱🐌
Heading north, where the night deepens. 🌌
Our goal: catch as many deep-sea creatures as possible for scientific research. 🪱🐙🦑🪼🦀
We’re a small but determined deep-sea biology team 🐟🌊 aboard the RV Kronprins Haakon (Norsk Polarinstitutt, IMR, UiB) together with @mariheilertsen.bsky.social
