@juliedoughty.bsky.social Just in case you have not seen the first update report. It shows a very worrying picture that sufficiency in Wales is further decreasing as a result of the bill www.gov.wales/removing-pro...

I agree. Although if it isn’t properly understood it’s more likely to be ignored and so arguably a different term would be better.

I once sat with a group of professionals working in a very different field to social care (aviation). These were mature, respected individuals. Every single one of them thought child poverty referred only to pocket money! 🙄😬

I am so pleased to see this webinar, especially given how the media narrative about the children’s social care sector can be so incredibly toxic, misleading & damaging. I hope that a very strong point is made about the risks of publishing the addresses of children’s homes & how this must be avoided.

Ahhh with the famous chicken roundabout! There’s an incredible woman called Bridget running a children’s home in Luanshya. DM if you are heading that way & I’ll link you with her.

I respectfully disagree. Government are well aware of the impact of the policy in Wales. (Major sufficiency crisis & risk to children). The only route to effective change is through commissioning reform (as the CMA said) but imo some applications of procurement approaches are really hindering that.

Procurement approaches have been trying to ‘clamp down’ for many years and have actually made the situation far worse. What’s needed is relational commissioning. Look at where it does work well and do more of it.
