Your neurodivergent staff works more efficiently if you allow them to do their job from home or at least make them go hybrid and don’t force them to come to the office when you need them to. Especially if you don’t offer accommodations (ie privatized commute, quiet rooms) to work in.

The average office employee who works an 8 hour day is productive for just 2 hours and 23 minutes, according to a UK study.

I can’t do this shit anymore dude. I have inured myself to a lot of cruelty over the years but this is the worst fucking thing I’ve ever witnessed. And it feels like so many people are cool with it to the point that they get irritated when folks post updates or fundraisers.

The EPA has eliminated its research division, which for decades has provided the science behind regulations on clean air, clean water, and toxic chemicals.

The US can afford to monitor, research, and regulate the impacts of industries on human and environmental health. We are just choosing not to.

Ten years after the Paris Agreement, nations are still falling short of their commitments to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change.

More than that, they haven’t shown enough follow-through on the goals they set. Instead, it’s been cities and local governments that have taken the lead.
As the nations lag on climate action, cities across the world step up
A new report documents how local communities are becoming more livable and sustainable.

Yet we're forced back into noisy environments at work despite it being possible to do things remotely. So glad this paper is out though - something to cite when people arrange in-person meetings
Today in Hell Yes, Research! Autistic quality of life improved by access to accommodations like earplugs & headphones to manage sounds.

"Our study demonstrates that many aspects of auditory environments—beyond noise alone―can negatively impact Autistic people’s QoL."

While I agree the DSM-V doesn't fully capture autism, we don't need this framing of subgroups based on “symptom severity” & “behavioral problems.” Subgrouping this way might help researchers categorize data, but it doesn’t help autistic people get support that respects our needs or agency. 🧵

This is a beautifully coded analogy for the issue with “person with Autism” vs “Autistic person”

An Autistic person isn’t a person with a discreet chunk of “Autism” that can be amputated from us … leaving an intact non-Autistic person.

We are fundamentally *Autistic* through and through
“It’s wrong to think of a construct as half bot half human. It makes us sound like the halves are discreet. … as opposed to the reality that I was one whole confused entity”

I'm autistic, which means I have to teach myself things that are intuitive to most people, and I intuitively understand some things that most folks have to be taught. And whenever anything changes noticeably I have to adjust everything or start over.
