New paper (submitted)! We use the Gaia DR3 stars to infer the population of interstellar objects in the Solar neighbourhood.
We find it is a lovely richly textured velocity distribution!

I spent the other weekend surrounded by women in #Physics at this year's #APS #CUWIP and got to present a poster on my research! Jocelyn Bell Burnell gave a talk about her contribution to the discovery of #pulsars at a time when physics and astronomy was almost exclusively male.

I re-did the Tarantula Nebula seen by the JWST! 🔭

It was first released by NASA/ESA/CSA/STScI in Sept 2022, so I think it is nice to remind everybody of the beauty of that data!

That is, maybe, the prettiest observation that I processed 🥰

day 5: i love public speaking and i love astrophysics, so when i get to mix those two together i feel so grateful for the opportunity☺️
i spent the morning tweaking my powerpoint, went to the last plenary of the day, and then went home early because i was EXHAUSTED. one day left! #AAS243 #aasnola

-brunch from cafe beignet
-won a raffle for a 3D puzzle of ELTP!
-met Pip the Bear🐻‍❄️
-attended a lovely slew of presentations
-attended the #BlackInAstro dinner🖤
-explored Bourbon Street (live music!)
-worked on my talk!

day 3: into the wild
too many presentations, too few hours in a day😭 i wish i were omnipresent! i saw many interesting talks and posters throughout the day, visited many booths in the exhibition hall, and afterwards went to a jazz bar concert! what an experience! #NOLA #AAS243 #astronomy #aasnola
